Description
The Director of Label Relations will work closely with a set roster of labels and be the main informational and communication source between those labels and all applicable departments within UMG, including Digital and Physical Sales, Operations, Physical Production and Executive staff. The Label Relations Rep will champion and be the resident expert for UMG products as well as the labels he/she represents.
Job Functions:
• Develop and maintain quality working relationships with designated labels / artists
• Be the expert & champion on designated UMG records (physical and digital) for all who may need resource
• Monitor and communicate all marketing drivers and sales activity on designated records and utilize all available reporting tools within UMG reach internal and external customers
• Work with labels to develop, execute, project manage marketing plans & timelines for specific releases
• Manage and troubleshoot label set-up information on proprietary informational programs, including the Music Mart, Micro, MM App
• Awareness of various physical & digital account programs & marketing opportunities, pro-actively drive for timely and effective placement with Account Reps.
• Oversee cooperative physical/Digital planners; work with label and Sales team properly set up new releases at physical/digital retail
• Work with sales team to ensure an overall digital marketing strategy (ie. pricing, deluxe versions, exclusive content, exclusive windows, daily promotions, catalog bundling)
• Work closely with UMG Commercial Services and fully communicate their benefits to labels.
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Exceptional communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a project deadline environment
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Experience:
• At least 3 years of experience in sales, marketing and/or music business
• Deep understanding and appreciation for all genres of music
Education:
• College degree or equivalent work experience.
