Description
Job title: Archive Engineer
Responsible to: Head of Mastering
Department: Post Production & Archiving
Location of work: Abbey Road Studios
Main Purpose of Role
This role will be responsible for transferring audio at hi-res from a variety of different sources, primarily analogue tape, but also including digital formats such as Umatic, DAT, Genex, etc, in order to preserve for the future on secure hardware and/or supply it to clients in a specified manner. The transfers must reproduce the original recorded sound as accurately as possible.
Person Specification
• Ability to prioritise effectively and work to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills are required for liaison with clients
• A strong team player and flexible to support colleagues and complete tasks as required
• A clear understanding of the meaning of and commitment to customer service, high quality production and technical excellence
• A degree or music related technology course is preferred
• A knowledge/understanding of Post Production would be an advantage
• An enthusiastic, pro-active approach
• Ability to establish a co-operative working relationship with customers and other members of the studio group
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with a DAW such as SADiE or Pro Tools, plus a working knowledge of different tape formats from analogue to digital
