United Talent Agency, a leading talent agency based in Beverly Hills, CA, is seeking an Associate for its Strategy & Corporate Development Group. The Associate will work with the Head of Strategy & Corporate Development, the Senior Director of Strategy & Corporate Development, the Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel, and other executives and agents of the Agency on significant corporate strategic growth initiatives and key agency client deals.
Conduct research & analysis on key industry sectors and specific business opportunities in the traditional and digital media & entertainment space (e.g., feature film, TV, digital media, music, production, etc.)
Assist with analyzing opportunities in key business extension areas, including sports, live events, marketing services, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, film finance, licensing & merchandising, consumer lifestyle, and international expansion
Develop financial models (discounted cash flows, comparable transactions, etc.) and assess deals across a variety of structures, including partnerships, joint ventures, equity investments, and M&A transactions
Prepare presentations and other materials related to key strategic initiatives and industry trends
Assist with structuring & negotiating key terms and drafting term sheets related to a wide variety of corporate and talent-related deals (e.g., M&A, equity investments, joint ventures, talent deals)
Assist with formulating agency corporate strategy and driving strategic planning process
Liaise on key projects with UTA business affairs executives, agents, and a variety of third-parties (including attorneys, companies ranging from start-ups through Fortune 500, banks, PE/VC funds, managers, producers, talent, etc.)
Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience at leading investment bank, strategy consulting firm, and/or traditional or digital media & entertainment company (in analytical strategy & corporate/business development role)
Expert level skills at financial modeling (Excel), PowerPoint, and other relevant applications (e.g., Word, Internet research, etc.)
Excellent academic track record from top-tier university; consider pre- and post-MBA
Team player, proactive, results-oriented, problem-solver, strategic thinker, highly organized, flexible, strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong passion and knowledge/willingness to learn about the business side of traditional & emerging media & entertainment and consumer lifestyle sectors; strong knowledge of feature film (and TV) economics, film (and TV) ultimate models, and talent participations a plus
