Duties: Responsible for covering any Master Control schedule primarily due to but not limited to UTO/PTO at all the Technical Operations platforms (CNN, HLN, CNNI and CNN en Espanol). Responsible for switching the network signal to uplink house, inserting commercial breaks in conjunction with log requirements, note all on and off air discrepancies. Depending on the network specific needs, could be responsible for 1-3 networks at one time and communicate with multiple control rooms including control rooms in NY, DC and remote locations. Duties include the loading of program files and change programming & break content as needed to accommodate editorial changes in program scheduling, show timing, sponsorships and breaking news. In addition, MCO's document changes in commercials for sales invoicing and sales operations. Maintain discrepancy logs to identify problems and changes affecting air including resolution taken. Oversee outgoing signal for quality and content. The position requires the ability to trouble shoot and recover multiple signals seamlessly from on air issues as well as develop preventative measures to avoid on air faults. Required to learn new technologies as they are implemented in the department. Applicant must be open to new ideas, new technology and production methods and have a solid work ethic and a positive approach to the job. Flexible and open to changes to daily operation as required by new technology. Support Departmental Supervisor through involvement in projects and/or initiatives. Represent department in planning/project meetings and lead projects and initiatives. Develop, test and document processes, workflow and Standard Operating Procedures. Train others. Includes maintenance of Master Control Manuals and written procedures. Daily reading and updating of Remedy as it relates to Discrepancy Reports and assists supervisor in maintaining the Remedy system. Assists Supervisor in evaluating and implementing new technology/facilities/workflow and procedures. Responsible for training of new operators and provide additional & continuing training to current ops on new technology and follow up on workflow/procedural issues that require additional training and documentation. Responsible for coordinating network programming. This includes setting up and maintaining automation playlists, the ingest and purge lists for show acquisition and determining needs of various networks, coordinating with other network MC s, departments, bureaus and producers to get all necessary elements. In the absence of department Supervisor responsible for performing various duties such as schedule modifications due to UTO/PTO, programming changes, breaking news, etc. Qualifications: Minimum experience required includes: 3-5 years in a Master Control environment and/or consistent & above average performance at MC 1 level within CNN Nets. Proficient with Florical automation and broadcast equipment. Demonstrated leadership skills, demonstrated writing skills and communication skills, demonstrated problem solving skills and fluent in windows based applications. Desirable experience (not mandatory) includes: Demonstrates a high-level of performance across multiple platforms in the CNN Newsgroup, past experience in a project team and/or team leader, other broadcast production experience including electronic graphics operation, audio, TD-ing etc. Experience with additional automation systems, editing experience and fluency in Spanish. Educational requirements include a college degree. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following on-the-job behaviors: 1.
