Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the role is to improve organizational effectiveness through the development and deployment of solutions to develop high performing teams and individuals, enhance leadership, and drive a culture of excellence. The role of the Talent Development Manager is to encourage employee development and a learning culture by promoting the 70-20-10 philosophy of adult learning. The role incumbent is responsible for leading talent management, leadership, and employee development training efforts for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development
• Partner with the business and HR leadership to develop the talent development strategy aligned with the business strategy and culture initiatives
• Design, plan and implement leadership and employee training portfolio of solutions that build skills and competencies in the workforce to deliver strategic business goals
• Review, analyse and improve current development offering to ensure alignment with company goals and talent strategy
• Develop training solutions, procuring external providers as appropriate and/or design and delivery of bespoke programmes and workshops
• Establish a project plan and conduct a cost/benefit analysis for any recommendation made to the business
• Develop and implement a Mentoring framework, leveraging existing material and philosophy and expertise in the global People Development team
• Manage, promote and administer Turner Visa and CNN Passport Programmes
• Responsible for program marketing, and internal communication of learning events
• Monitor efficiency of solution and transfer of learning to workplace
• Develop methods and tools to measure development and training initiative impact and effectiveness
• Coordinate and track learning activities in region through LMS
• Develop training metrics and reporting standard, leveraging the Talent Data & Systems Analyst
• Responsible for vendor relationship management, budget management, strategic sourcing leveraging the procurement team as appropriate and complying with procurement policies
• Partner with business and HR to ensure consistency of training policies
• Manage and administer classroom course logistics leveraging training administration resource
• Manage internal stakeholder relationships including Turner People Development function leaders and Time Warner Leadership Development
Talent Management
• Design, plan and implement succession planning, leadership development, and career development programs leveraging and adopting existing corporate frameworks
• Manage the succession planning cycle and identified high potential leadership talent pool, ensuring succession and individual development plans are implemented and meet current and future business needs
• Working with HR partners and senior management to develop long term career development plans for leaders and High Potentials
• Own high-potential management and development programs that align with long-range business strategies; leverage and manage Turner's relationship with the London Business School maximising the school's Executive Development programs to develop our most valuable leaders
• Partner with Recruitment Manager exploring the opportunity to establish a structured fast-track graduate, Intern, or MBA program across the region, developing a pipeline of emerging leaders
• Manage and influence the effective deployment of Turner's talent management systems, including the Learning Management System (Cornerstone), and the dedicated Performance Management System, MyPerformance.
Organisational Effectiveness
• Facilitate the implementation of change management initiatives; develop methods and tools to measure impact and effectiveness
• Evaluate and effectively deploy Turner's Performance Management framework enabling line managers and individuals to be effective in giving and receiving ongoing performance feedback, creating accountable and high performing managers and teams
• Promote ongoing performance and regular personal development feedback
• Responsible for the roll-out and project management of Turner's and TimeWarner's Employee Engagement Survey partnering with HR Business Partners to analyse results, develop and activate action plans
Competencies and Person Specification
• Bachelor's degree in HR, business or other related field required
• Master in business, organizational behavior, HR management or related field preferred desired
• Work experience in a fast paced multinational business environment required
• Industry experience (FMCG, High Tech, Media) preferred
• Knowledge of range of HR disciplines, including recruitment, learning and development, HR Planning, performance management
• Experience in designing, developing and implementing leadership and employee training curriculums
• Experienced in talent development and talent management, organization development and succession planning
• Strategic planning and project management skills
• Demonstrate excellent business acumen
• Ability to coordinate people and resources
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Confident group facilitator and speaker
• Effectively initiate relationships and build rapport with senior leadership, ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
• Critical and creative thinking ability
• Ability to persuade and influence decision makers, persuasive negotiation skills
