The HR Generalist will be responsible for the delivery of a proactive and full range of HR services to employees across CNN International as well as Turner Entertainments client groups.
The role will involve working closely with the business to support in a broad range of areas such as Organisational Design, Talent Management, Employee Relations, Reward and Wellbeing, and HR Administration. Working alongside the HR Director you will be providing high level support to enable the delivery of the company s Human Resources strategy and Business Objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Build effective working relationships with the Management team and other stakeholders within the Business to an extent where you understand their business challenges and can identify appropriate HR interventions to support them.
Advise Business Leaders and Managers on all aspects of best practice when it comes to organisational design and redesign ensuring all of this is supported by an appropriate and effective change management program.
Remain up to date with what is Best Practice in the HR world ensuring that this relates to the relevant business sectors you support.
Ensure a good understanding of the financial drivers of your business and competitive market activity in order to ensure HR is well placed to provide commercial advice and respond to current and future business and market challenges.
Provide advice to Managers and Employees on the different Turner Broadcasting Systems (TBS) Policies, Terms and Conditions of Employment, and the application of Employment Law taking into consideration the relevant local country laws.
In the event that organisational change is required be able to manage the process from start to finish (consultation and administration) taking into consideration local employment law and ensuring that business owners are coached and supported in managing the processes fairly and objectively.
Liaise and partner with the internal Centers of Excellence (COE) such as Learning and Development, Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits and HR Operations when specific expertise and assistance is required.
Working with the Reward and Benefits team provide advice and support on the development of appropriate reward strategies for business areas, including role benchmarking, commission scheme reviews and the annual pay and bonus scheme cycle.
When looking to identify new talent (internal or external) partner with the Recruitment team ensuring that high caliber candidates are attracted to the business. Ensure that line Managers are kept up to date on applicant s progress and at the same time flag any concerns with regards to filling the role (i.e. Salary drift, immigration challenges etc.)
In conjunction with Learning and Development team support Managers in identifying and planning appropriate development interventions for their teams.
Encourage focus and ownership in them managing the talent profile within their areas through the use of succession planning tools.
Advise Managers on all aspects of how to manage an effective performance management process ensuring that employees are set meaningful objectives and provide advice and coaching on the use of the Personal Development Plan (PDP) process.
As required, advise and coach managers on specific performance, conduct, absence or employee relations matters ensuring that all conduct and capability issues are dealt with in good time, sensitively and appropriately.
Partner with managers and other stakeholders to ensure that employee health and wellbeing issues are well managed, ensuring return to work interviews take place, managers support and encourage high levels of attendance, and that absence is reported and monitored properly.
Support and advice on the implementation of the company s Diversity strategy and related policies and procedures, particularly in relation to recruitment, promotion, career development, and creating an open, inclusive and appropriate culture within TBS.
Undertake and manage projects and new initiatives as directed by the HR Director (both within the business areas and across the wider EMEA business) to support the achievement of the HR and Business strategy.
Take proactive steps to ensure all HR systems, local policies and procedures are updated regularly to take account of new and forthcoming employment legislation.
Develop effective working relationships with colleagues across other Time Warner HR teams, identifying where appropriate opportunities for joint working that may benefit Turner.
In conjunction with the HR Data Operations Team ensure that changes to employee data are updated via the Manager Self Service tools and that our external payroll providers in region are updated accordingly.
Liaise and partner closely with Finance on the budgeting of personnel and allowance costs ensuring the correct forecasting of all HR related cost.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experienced HR practitioner with great generalist HR experience,
- Great business acumen, ability to provide HR services and advise in a commercially sensitive and appropriate way.
- Graduate caliber, preferably with an HR professional qualification.
- Fluency in English is essential, language skills would be advantageous
- Experience in M&A / Integration desirable.
- Working knowledge of EMEA employment law would be desirable.
- Strong intellectual capacity and ability to analyse, understand and advise on complex HR issues from a commercial perspective and with cultural sensitivity but underpinned by a detailed understanding of legislative and best practice requirements.
- Ability to assimilate information quickly taking into consideration commercial needs versus balancing risk and exposure to the broader organisation.
- Effective change agent, able to be proactive, lead by example and support the implementation of change across the business.
- Experience and exposure in working with and partnering with remote teams across a global matrix organisation.
- Able to inspire confidence in the Management team, and key stakeholders both within HR and outside of HR. A completer/finisher, able to get things done and be proactive and responsive.
- Experience of working in a U.S organization is desirable.
- A good sense of humor and a want to have HR be regarded as a serious Business Partner is essential
