Human Resources Manager - Temporary Role (12 Months)

A fantastic opportunity has come up for an experienced HR Manager to join our team covering maternity leave for up to a 12 month period. The HR Manager will be responsible for offering HR support to a number of diverse business groups across Turner EMEA and partnering closely with our own internal HR specialist teams (Reward, Talent acquisition, HR Employee Services) to provide a seamless, supportive and professional HR service.
In Europe, Middle East and Africa, Turner currently broadcasts 68 channels in 23 languages to 124 countries. It is headquartered in London and operates local offices across the region.
The brand portfolio includes EMEA's number one international news brand CNN International as well as Turner's leading kids brands, Cartoon Network – home of global hit animation series such as The Amazing World of Gumball and Boomerang, featuring timeless classics such as Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes. Recently launched truTV is available free to air in the UK and is home to shows such as RuPaul's Drag Race and America's Got Talent.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in creating credible and professional relationships with stakeholders across our business providing commercially focused solutions to support and meet our business objectives. You will have the confidence and credibility to advise on a variety of HR related subjects and be able to influence Managers on HR best practice. A tenacious, professional and communicative approach, focusing on continuous improvement and a real want to help the business develop and challenge its thinking is essential.
Responsibilities:
• Communicating and implementing Turners HR strategies and initiatives that align to each specific client group and adapting accordingly. One of our key business priorities currently is reviewing recent culture survey results and in partnership with the Managers formulating action plans across all business areas.
• Support Line Managers in effectively managing their people through utilising and partnering with our broader internal HR teams.
• Coach Managers to focus on driving performance and supporting employees through effective and fair evaluation processes implementing specific performance improvement plans where required.
• Advise Managers on implications of organisational changes (at an individual and team level), responsible for ensuring we are legally compliant.
• Work with line Managers to create effective talent and succession plans using them to fill and highlight critical positions. Interface with the HR Director to build a strategy & plan of action.
• Coach and build line manager capability to effectively identify high potential employees as well as highlighting potential talent gaps.
• Provide timely and accurate advice to Managers on any Employee Relations related issues, challenging where necessary to ensure we are legally compliant and following a best practise approach.
• Participate in region wide HR projects and initiatives as well as being actively involved in our on boarding programme for new employees.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
• Proven HR generalist experience in a fast paced organisation where you have been commercially focused with a service dedicated mentality.
• Strong communication and relationship skills, someone who can inspire confidence and support our Employees and Managers with a can do attitude.
• Strong intellectual capacity with the ability to analyse, understand and advise on sometimes complex HR issues.
• A real hands-on attitude, someone that can be proactive in identifying areas of improvement not only across the business but also in the HR team.
• A strong understanding of UK Employment Law in theory and in practise.
• Desirable:
• Experience working with and partnering with remote teams across a matrix structure would be ideal.
• Good sense of humour!
• CIPD Qualified or with hands on practical experience.
• Additional European Language.
