Qualifications:
Great emphasis on analytical, drafting and strategic negotiating skills. Candidate must have a combined minimum of four years of actual, relevant, hands-on experience in an attorney position at one or more reputable law firms, networks, studios and/or media companies handling legal work for original television series (scripted guild productions as well as unscripted). Position also requires excellent academic credentials and references, superior ability to analyze complex business and legal issues, exceptional judgment, outstanding inter-personal skills, a teamwork-oriented attitude, strong initiative, and proven ability to effectively juggle competing priorities. Candidate must be able to work under pressure with keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills and possess the ability to interact effectively with other attorneys and staff, diverse in-house client groups, senior executives, opposing counsel and outside production personnel. JD degree and admission to state bar required.
Duties:
The Turner Legal Department in Burbank, CA, is looking for an experienced television attorney to handle development, production and licensing of both scripted and unscripted original series for the TNT and tbs Originals production division. Responsibilities include the following: draft, review and negotiate a large variety of development, licensing and rights agreements; manage and directly handle all production legal work for Turner-produced programs; advise executives and other personnel on deal structures, digital rights and new media, chain-of-title, program licensing and exploitation, financing, co-production, international distribution. participations, and guild issues. Position may include supervision of other personnel and may require occasional travel to production locations.
