Duties: Driving the satellite truck from location to location. The position is well versed in acquiring satellites and setting up encoders and decoders. Individual will need to be familiar with DOT regulations and must hold a valid Commercial Driving License (CDL).
• Extensive travel throughout the US is required with typically short notice due to breaking news coverage.
• Responsible for the initial production set up on location, including strategic placement, technical assessment, cable runs, satellite acquisition and all manner of television production technical setup.
• Collaborates with the team of reporters, producers, and photojournalists on location; will interface with both Editorial and Operational staff on the CNN desk, provides solutions oriented, creative
• Technical guidance
• Operates the satellite truck on location; expert in all aspects of satellite newsgathering and Live remote Television production.
• CNN trucks are multi-path mobile studios requiring individual Engineers to be well versed in all phases/systems onboard their trucks of including cameras switchers, audio, uplink and specialized broadcast systems
• Performs both major and minor maintenance of broadcast and uplink equipment on the truck and for the truck itself.
• CNN KU trucks must be maintained at the highest level of readiness
• Position handles extremely complex and technical television production equipment.
• Functions independently and autonomously on location - while at the same time collaborating with the Editorial and Operations staff in the field.
Qualifications: 4+ years of experience operating a satellite truck 6+ years of television field production experience. Must hold a valid commercial Driving License Technical degree, preferably Technology, with a focus on broadcast engineering or equivalent experience
