Planning and completion of projects and maintenance while ensuring compliance with all FCC, FAA, KTXL and Tribune guidelines. Advise and assist the Director of Technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain, maximize and service station's transmitter, studio and station facility
- Recommends and oversees the purchase of equipment necessary to produce a quality product and maximize efficiencies
- Assist management in the long range planning of replacement equipment of KTXL
- Assure proper operation of KTXL with optimum quality and conform to all FCC and FAA rules and regulations
- To train the maintenance engineers, as necessary, on the repair of the electronic and mechanical equipment of KTXL
- To work closely with the other departments in the maintenance and operation of their equipment
- Additional duties as necessary
Education and Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience as Chief Engineer
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to deal confidentially with sensitive information
- Understand the operation of KTXL equipment
- Use and knowledge of specialized and standard broadcast test equipment
- General knowledge of the rules and regulations of the FCC
- Knowledge of UHF transmitter, ENG, SNG and RF microwave systems
- Advanced computer skills
- Valid California Driver's license, good driving record
- This position requires an ''on call'' status when emergencies or breakdown of critical equipment occurs to the operation of KTXL
- Maintaining a spare parts inventory and ordering replacement parts as needed
- Requires the ability to work with and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to KTXL
- Must have the ability to make decisions and take prompt action
- Must be able to work alone and unsupervised when necessary
- Must have attention to detail with great accuracy
- Operation of company vehicles must be done with the safety of the operator, other personnel and general public in mind, according to the guidelines of KTXL
- Some travel may be necessary
- Working Relationships
- Must be capable of working with all other engineers within the department and with all other station personnel

- Physical ability and dexterity to work on small delicate components without damage to surrounding electronic parts and/or circuit boards

Work Environment
Work performed primarily in Engineering Shop, studio, transmitter outside, and in an office environment
There may be loud noise on occasion

Job_Requirements: FOX40 has an opening for a Chief Engineer, to plan and complete projects and maintenance while ensuring compliance with all FCC, FAA and Tribune guidelines. We¿re looking for someone with five years of Chief Engineer experience, has knowledge of UHF transmitters, ENG, SNG and RF microwave systems, and have attention to detail when working with vendors or taking inventory. We need someone who can work closely with other departments at the station to maintain and maximize our transmitter and studio facility.
