Job Title: Development Intern
Department: Development
Paid Internship- Major television/reality Los Angeles based production company is seeking an enthusiastic intern. YOU MUST LOVE REALITY TELEVISION! The development intern is an integral part of this established development team. Qualified candidate will participate in the creation and development of non-scripted series for broadcast and cable networks. From writing one sheets, act breakdowns and treatments to associate producing presentation and sizzle reels, this position will support every stage of the development process and all members of the development team. Applicants should be interested in an eventual development position. We are looking for a minimum three (3) month commitment. Intern hours are a minimum of three (3) days per week.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support creation and conceptualization of new shows for the development slate
• Participate in brainstorm sessions to generate new show ideas
• Identify trends in pop culture and new formats in the television marketplace
• Compile and organize research for all active projects
• Phone coverage
• Media coverage-Identify stories of interest in broadcast and print media publications for both domestic and international markets.
• Support execution of development materials, which includes: research and review for final treatments, one sheets, casting and sales-tapes, production schedules, and other development items
• Attend pitch meetings, conferences, agency calls, and talent scouts
• Manage external submissions and provide timely feedback to all producers and agents
• Work closely with internal assistants, coordinators and managers on all tasks that pertain to the organization and development of current
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Has advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) applications, databases used by the executive supported.
• Photoshop and video editing skills are a huge plus but not mandatory.
• Has basic knowledge of many administrative functions and processes.
• Has basic research and data analysis skills.
• Takes an active interest in all aspects of non-scripted television development and production.
• Has a genuine interest in reality television.
• Has advanced skills in communication and diplomacy; is sensitive to and able to work effectively with a diverse group and individuals.
• Has an advanced ability to organize work and to set priorities in a fast paced continually changing environment; has basic multi-tasking skills; typically receives minimal instructions on general tasks and general instructions on semi-complex tasks.
