TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is hiring for the full-time position of:
SENIOR PAYROLL COORDINATOR
The Senior Payroll Coordinator works as a member of a closely-knit HR team to provide high-quality support to employees at all levels of the organization and reports to the Director, HR. This is a fast paced role with a high degree of collaboration within the HR department, as well as with the Accounting/Finance department. The primary responsibility of this position is as the sole payroll professional to carry out all payroll functions, benefit administration and accounting aspects of payroll, such as;
• Prepare, transmit & reconcile a bi-weekly payroll (salary and hourly) in a timely and efficient manner (including hires, re-hires, termination, promotions, leaves, pay rate changes, ROE, etc.)
• Benefit administration for: Sun Life Benefits Program, iA Group RSP, Manulife Pension
• Ensures the accurate, timely and efficient accounting of all aspects of payroll including all bi-weekly journal entries and month-end remittances
• Ensures compliance with three (3) Collective Bargaining Agreements
• Follows through on all employee and management payroll inquiries and resolves issues promptly.
• Liaises with payroll provider (ADP) to ensure all payroll payments and deductions are completed correctly.
• Responsible for T4 reconciliation, year-end remittances and reporting
• Maintain and update budget tracking spreadsheet bi-weekly
• Maintain accurate data in ADP: Pay@Work, People@Work, EZLabour
• Accomplishes accurate work with minimal assistance and guidance
• Maintain on-line employee files and accurate payroll records for audit purposes
Minimum Requirements
• CPA certification Level 1 (or equivalent experience)
• Ideally you have a minimum of 5 years payroll, benefit, accounting experience with ADP Performance Pack payroll software – Pay @ Work; People @ Work; EZ Labour
• Your are our payroll person, therefore, you are capable of being a sole-payroll professional
• You are inquisitive if something just doesn't look right, you are a problem solver and are naturally detail-oriented, organized and able to meet deadlines
• Thrive in an environment of high volume on-boarding during peak seasonal periods aka our Film Festivals
• You just can't help yourself with the need to automate and transform manual processes and workflows
• Experience with unionized employees and CBA requirements related to remittances and reporting
• Previous experience with general ledger journal entry preparation and general accounting experience is required
• Highly proficient spreadsheet experience (Excel), familiarity with HRIS software and uploads
• Experience in not-for-profit cultural organizations an asset
• Adaptable to a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends depending on peak periods
• Note: Short listed candidates will be tested on their knowledge of payroll
