TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is hiring for the contract position of:
ASSISTANT, ADULT LEARNING - Lead Candidate Identified
Reporting to the Coordinator, Adult Learning, the Assistant, Adult Learning will work in a fast-paced environment, assisting with research, outreach, and administrative support in three areas of our programming: the TIFF Speaker Series at Festival 2017, our seasonal fall events and initiatives, and our Reel Heritage symposium in November. We are seeking applicants who have a strong interest and some experience working in arts administration, non-profit or education. The position presents an opportunity for a person interested in film, public programming and education to gain further knowledge about these fields and to put into practice skills that they have learned in these areas.
Responsibilities
• Shall include but not be limited to:
• Assist with administration of the Speaker Series programme at Festival, including: liaising with Events team and Film Office; conducting research and maintaining tracking documents; overseeing tickets and on-site logistics; and serving as point of contact for the series programming partner, the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs
• Complete Festival Post-Mortem notes for Speaker Series programme
• Administrative support for fall season, including, but not limited to, guest research and invitations; guest and film tracking; liaising with programming partners; and event and initiative administration
• Assist Coordinator, Adult Learning, with outreach to academic institutions for the promotion of fall educational initiatives
• Assist with research for the Higher Learning Digital Resource Hub, including preparation of filmographies, bibliographies, and additional resources
• Under direction of the Coordinator, Adult Learning, oversee administration of the Reel Heritage symposium, including, but not limited to, national participant correspondence, coordinating participant travel and accommodation with Film Office, coordinating scheduling and internal booking, liaising with subject experts and speakers
• General administrative duties for the Adult Learning department as needed
Minimum Requirements
• 1-2 years experience providing support in arts administration, film or education
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Previous experience working with cultural organizations and academic institutions
• Knowledge of film
• Exceptional research skills
• Strong oral and written skills, with a focus on phone manner and interpersonal skills
• Natural ability to work efficiently on many projects with varying deadlines, and anticipate priorities
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Exceptional computer skills and database management (including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism and diplomacy
