Tippett Studio is a unique, Academy Award winning, full service visual effects company that specializes in CG character animation for movies and television commercials. Founded in 1984 by Phil Tippett, the Studio is located in Berkeley, California.
We currently have a need for an Animator.
Animator
Animators are responsible for designing and executing the performance of digital characters within a shot.
Essential Functions:
The below list describes the essential functions of this role, but other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
• Take direction from Animation Supervisor and Leads to create believable characters while also able to make aesthetic decisions on your own which benefit the shot.
• Read the script and understand the story, its characters, and plot points.
• Seamlessly incorporate digital characters with live-action actors.
• Push your creative approach to evolve with technology.
• Meet deadlines set by Leads and Production.
• Attend animation dailies and provide feedback to other team members.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
• Must have experience with live action visual effects animation work.
• Understanding of animation principles and strong sense of cinematic language required.
• Work should demonstrate the ability to define character personality, create fluid motion, organic movement, sense of weight, and physical believability.
• Quadruped animation experience preferred.
• A background in art, performance, acting, storytelling, sculpting, stop-motion, traditional animation, puppeteering, and motion capture is helpful.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and take direction professionally.
• Experience with Linux/Unix a plus, but not required.
• One year minimum of production experience preferred with strong proficiency in Autodesk Maya.
• Good organization and communication skills.
