Thomas St John Inc provides business management, tax and accounting services to a client base consisting of high net worth individuals, families and businesses, typically within the music, entertainment, and sport industries. The Company is comprised of 75+ high level accountants, lawyers and tax professionals based across three main offices in London, Amsterdam and Los Angeles.
We are currently looking for a Tax Manager to oversee our U.S. tax compliance function.
Position Responsibilities:
• Provide tax-related domestic and cross-border planning and compliance assistance to entertainment business-connected individuals and their associated entities
• Assist individual clients needing a wide range of tax services, including tax compliance, tax planning and tax advice relating to their
business interests, investments and related assets
• Prepare and review of Forms 5471, 8865, 8621, 8938 and 8858
• Serve as an advisor to high-net-worth individuals, family businesses and executive groups by providing a wide array of professional tax services, including individual and flow-through entity tax planning and compliance; and gift tax, wealth succession, and estate tax planning and compliance
• Provide quality, practical tax planning; develop budgets; determine resource requirements; and direct and monitor engagements
• Participate in managing the tax department by assisting in forecasting future work, delegating work effectively and resolving staffing issues
• Supervise staff and seniors and take an active role in their professional development, review their work products for completeness and accuracy, and prepare work products for client delivery
• Participate in client meetings and work within a team environment to provide integrated advisory services to clients
Candidate Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in related field (Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics)
• Graduate degree of MST or Tax LLM preferred
• Active CPA license, EA license or State Bar License required
• Minimum of five years' relevant experience with complex high-net-worth individual, partnership and corporate tax projects with an emphasis on planning and compliance projects with international connections
• Two years of recent experience with a public accounting firm is preferred
• Fiduciary income tax planning preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving ability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to lead client meetings
• Strong team, project management and leadership skills
• Commitment to ongoing learning in a tax technology environment
• Proficient experience with CCH Access, or similar platform
• Proficient knowledge of automated tax processing systems and Microsoft Office tools
