Name of Position: Paralegal
Summary of Position:
General responsibilities include supporting Thinkwell's in-house counsel and overseeing the day-to-day affairs of a global Legal department, serving as the gate-keeper for contracts, providing administrative support to the department, acting as an inter-departmental liaison and other tasks as assigned.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
• Support Thinkwell's in-house counsel
- Manage a substantial flow of legal documentation in all areas, including client side, production and corporate affairs.
- Route and monitor status of agreements in the Company pipeline.
- Populate, format and proofread Professional Service Agreements, Work Authorizations, Proposals, Vendor Agreements, Fabrication Agreements, Change Orders, Non-Disclosure Agreements, RFPs, etc.
- Draft legal correspondence and Purchase Orders.
- Conduct legal research in a wide variety of subject areas including labor and employment, entertainment and international law.
- Ensure compliance with the contract administration process in accordance with Company policies and applicable law.
• Oversee the day-to-day affairs of the Legal department
- Manage Thinkwell's insurance program, including filling out policy renewal applications, requesting/reviewing certificates of insurance and responding to audit requests.
- Maintain the Company's corporate books, including subsidiary companies.
- Administer the Company's immigration pipeline, including responding to information requests from outside counsel, and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Maintain the master legal calendar.
- Link fully-executed agreements to the Company's Enterprise Resource Planning System.
- Create and maintain a customized IP database.
• Provide ongoing administrative support to the Legal department, including but not limited to:
- Respond to legal inquiries and information requests.
- Handle copying, filing and scanning of executed contracts and all legal correspondence.
- Schedule meetings as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Extremely well organized, efficient and articulate
• Excellent communication skills
• Expert proficiency with Word (including drafting functions such as document comparison and redlining), Excel, Google Apps, Power Point and Keynote required.
• Able to multi-task in a creative open-office environment.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and focus on most critical tasks.
• Ability to work independently and to use common sense and sound judgment to complete assignments in a timely manner.
Minimum Job Requirements:
• 2-3 years of prior legal experience required.
• Entertainment-related experience preferred but not required (must thrive in a collaborative, highly creative work environment and demonstrate a cooperative, service-orientated personality).
