Classification: P/T Temp - 20 Hours per week in The Trevor Project NY Office
Project Duration: May 14 - July 13, 2012
Compensation: $25 hourly
The Trevor Project is a non-profit organization determined to end suicide among LGBTQ youth by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including our nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone.
We are currently seeking a P/T Temporary Special Events Coordinator. The Special Events Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the organization's annual fundraising New York signature event, Trevor Live. We are seeking a candidate who excels in relationship building, is results-oriented, is a self-starter and has strong project management skills.
The Special Events Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Event Support
-Assist special events director in all administrative projects
-Maintain event timeline
-Arrange for all necessary event supplies
-Update and compile event day packets for volunteers
-Update and compile event day production documents as needed
-Maintain and update all event donor databases
-Contact all current and potential event donors to support silent auction and VIP gift bags
-Act as lead on the set-up, execution and check-out of silent auction on night of the event
-Follow up and close out all silent auction winners who did not claim winnings, post event
-Run any necessary errands to support event
-Support volunteer leads in any onsite needs, day of event
Event Committee Support
-Attend, participate and take notes at all event planning committee meetings
-Attend, participate and take notes in any event conference calls as needed
-Administratively support event planning committee's efforts (solicit, follow up and tracking of silent auction and VIP gift bag items)
-Assist with receiving, organizing and inventorying of all silent auction and VIP gift bag items
-Send weekly update to event planning committee
Qualifications:
The special events coordinator must have:
-A minimum of 2 years special event coordination experience
-A demonstrated commitment to meeting a high-quality standards and attention to detail
-High level of professionalism with good interpersonal skills to work alongside volunteers
-Strong written and verbal communications skills
-Must be able to work independently
-An enthusiasm and dedication to teamwork
-Computer literacy, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
-Strong commitment to The Trevor Project's mission
