The Manager Business Development supports and partners with the VP, Business Development in identifying, analyzing, developing and executing new business initiatives designed to grow revenue and asset value for the Media division of The Madison Square Garden Company. In addition, the Manager assists in project managing certain special projects for MSG Networks and/or Fuse and in supervising the Networks' international sales and distribution processes including providing relevant materials and information to distributors and partnering internally with Programming, Legal, Research, and Operations to optimize international distribution opportunities. The Manager, Business Development researches, analyzes, and summarizes trends/opportunities related to business development initiatives including consumer usage, advertising, e-commerce, potential technological developments, content providers, new products and competitive strategies. Develops reports on industry and competitive analysis creating financial models around opportunities. Evaluates strategic partnerships and affiliate deals while analyzing business plans for potential affiliates and/or investment targets. Makes recommendations on partnerships based on financial analysis and due diligence. Monitors business development efforts and operational performance relative to established goals/objectives in comparison to competitor/industry performance. Creates business and financial models that support MSG Media’s business development initiatives. Assist in producing executive presentations for internal and external purposes. Participates in meetings with the VP to summarize status on all business development projects.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master's degree with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in business development and strategy, with knowledge of the media industry. Must have strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling regarding DCF, IRR, ROI, etc. Must be familiar with due diligence process and financial functions such as corporate valuations and capital structures. Will be able to work independently with a high level of enthusiasm, resourcefulness and creativity to develop new initiatives. Will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work with senior management teams. Must have the ability to attract and manage external resources and create close working relationships with executives and relevant network contacts. Will be detail oriented with an understanding of research techniques, business planning and budgeting cycles. Must be organized and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Will have strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel.
