The Walt Disney Studios encompasses the creation, production, promotion, sales, acquisition and domestic and international distribution of live-action and animated motion pictures, home entertainment releases, live stage plays, and music and soundtrack recordings.
The Senior Manager, Distribution Technology reports into the Vice President, Distribution Technology at The Walt Disney Studios and is based in Burbank.
Responsibilities
• Understand unauthorized media consumption behaviors
• Manage a team responsible for research, analytics and software development focused on unauthorized media consumption
• Identify and analyze emerging threats and disruptions to media consumption
• Work with Corporate Anti-Piracy and Government Relations teams on various initiatives
• Manage contractors, vendors, engineers and business analysts across multiple projects
• Communicates status to stakeholders and management
• Monitors and reports on emerging threats and disruptions to media consumption in all distribution channels (e.g. theatrical, home video, broadcast, etc.)
• Identifies internal and external resources needed
• Manages day-to-day operational aspects of Piracy Intelligence team
• Identifies and communicates resource constraints and potential priority conflicts to assist the organization in evaluating and reprioritizing deadlines
• Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately

• 6 years evaluating new technologies in media distribution or consumer devices
• 4years experience programming in OO environment (Java, C , etc)
• 3 years experience managing a software development team
• 2 years experience developing consumer facing internet based technologies and projects
• Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals in securing media and rights management systems
• Proficient understanding of DRM systems such as Widevine, Verimatrix, WMDRM, PlayReady or Adobe Access
• Proficient understanding of Internet based delivery mechanisms for video such as HTML5 Video, Smooth Streaming or Apple HLS
• Proven track record in using external resources for developing software
• Proficient understanding of Web Services
• Proficient in quality assurance testing techniques
Preferred Qualifications
• Working understanding of technologies like P2P, streaming protocols, set top boxes
• Working understanding of security protocols like PGP, DRM, CAS
• Demonstrated understanding of distribution platforms such as Cable, IPTV, Satellite, Mobile and Internet
• Demonstrated understanding of watermarking and fingerprinting technologies
• Demonstrated understanding in the prevention of piracy in media
Required Education
• Bachelor degree required; Technical degree is a plus
• PMP or Agile certification a plus
