Full Time Job
We are looking for an experienced operations and engineering leader to drive innovation around how we support studio post-production infrastructure, systems, and technical services. You will lead a dynamic team that provides the engineering and technology support for The Walt Disney Studios post-production and distribution operations. You will set strategic direction and vision, working seamlessly with our business partners and your team. You will anticipate needs, foster nimbleness, and build a world-class service oriented team.
To be successful in this role, you must be innovative, a quick learner, curious, have a strong understanding of media workflows and its requirements on facilities, industry specific tools, infrastructure, systems, and support. You need to have crisp communication abilities and work well in complex cross-functional teams. An ability to be flexible and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to meet the needs of our business are critical to success.
In conjunction with, and under the direction of, Disney Digital Studios Services, you will be leading engineering teams to design, implement, and operate technology solutions and facility designs for digital mastering, media transformation and packaging, QC, Editorial, Sound Mixing and Dubbing, cabling and wiring, machine shop, audio/visual, among others. This position will be coordinating with other Disney media segments (e.g. Disney Live Action, Marvel Studios, Disney Animation, Pixar, Lucasfilm/ILM, Skywalker Sound, Media Networks) to provide post-production and distribution services, identify efficiencies, and share knowledge around infrastructure, asset management, workflow automation, talent and operational practices. ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
• Collaborate with Disney Studio operations executives to develop a joint strategy to provide technology and media operations
• Architect and drive the implementation of innovative solutions for core services and new post-production workflows, including support of new Mastering formats, expanding post-production facilities, and improving remote collaboration of DI, audio mixing, and VFX review
• Design, implement and maintain an effective and efficient organizational structure to successfully support current and future business strategies
• Provide strong leadership to the union engineering teams by encouraging diversity of thought, focusing on employee development and performance, and ensuring teams continually acquire new technology and management skills
• Provide experienced leadership, in conjunction with Disney Digital Studio Services, for technical infrastructure construction and integration projects for post-production facilities, data centers, and media screening environments

Technical and Operational Skills:
• Strong post-production workflow and media technology background including facilities, data centers, post-production tools and media formats
• Lead the resolution of critical issues on a continuous basis including customer notification, coordination and dispatch of individuals from various functional groups, and running post mortems
• Lead the triage and troubleshooting complex issues across various business, operational, and technical groups
• Provide detailed design guidance and experience with the construction and integration of studio post-facilities such as editing, QC, sound mixing and dubbing
• Following and composing formal processes/procedures, documenting complex systems and operations
• Strong understanding of the automation trends in post-production and media distribution
• Previous experience with digital content production workflows
• Post-production Sound Engineering and experience
• Provide and lead white-glove technical operations support services
• Guide and provide leadership for conference room configurations and video conference solutions
• Experience with post-production networks and secure, accelerated file transport systems for digital media assets
• Some experience with managing compute and render farms
• Strong understanding of the management and operations of high performance storage systems
• Perspectives on ''cloud'' (public, private, shared computing) and its potential uses to solve media workflow challenges
• Experience and understanding of connected, creative collaboration tools and technologies
• Strong understanding of effective quality and risk management
• Experience with capacity and resource planning and management for facilities, infrastructure, and engineering teams
• Solid background in content and information security
Basic Qualifications
• 10 years of experience leading engineering teams responsible for supporting content production workflows
• 7 years of relevant software or infrastructure engineering experience
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
