The Business/Data Analyst will provide support for the overall business strategy of one or more of The Walt Disney Studio business segments. This individual will provide data preparation, reporting, and business analysis services in support of the following teams:
1. Piracy Intelligence research and analysis function in Studio Technology
2. Domestic & International Theatrical Distribution
3. Home Entertainment Product Marketing & Distribution
4. Integrated Planning and Franchise Management
The goal of the Business Intelligence & Analytics team is to create a competitive advantage for TWDS by leveraging data and advanced analytics. This position requires passion, curiosity, analytical, and story-telling skills. This position also requires the ability to work closely with various business segments to gain perspective and a strong understanding of objectives. A curious, proactive, independent, high-energy, positive attitude is a must.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with clients to understand business intelligence, reporting, and analytics needs
• Translate strategic business questions into analytical frameworks and resource/data requirements
• Development of prototype solutions, reports and dashboards, and robust deliverables to support analytic insights and visualization of complex data sets
• Ask and answer the next question(s) after gathering and analyzing the data to make insights more powerful – delivering more than requested
• Develop and deploy testing hypotheses and analyze test results, providing the necessary analytical rigor to ensure data quality, consistency, repeatability, and accuracy of insights
• Deliver timely relevant and actionable analytics to support short-term tactical and long-term strategic decision-making including
• Leverage social analytics tools to track, trend, and analyze consumer behaviors and expressed preferences
• Employ statistical software packages to design, test, and execute sophisticated econometric models to derive business insights
• Desire to participate in an ''Open Source'' learning environment where sharing, documenting, teaching, and collaborating with others is the culture
Basic Qualifications
• 1 - 3 years of experience as a data analyst with exposure to business modelling, predictive analytics, and econometric methods
• Strong knowledge of business and statistical analysis toolsets, e.g. MS Excel VBA, SQL, R, SAS, Tableau
• Ability and desire to quickly develop new analysis toolset skills as necessary
• Ability to extract data and combine data sources to develop a rich, complete picture for the business
• Willingness to conduct extensive primary research to support analytics projects
• Ability to demonstrate probabilistic thinking skills
• Sharp attention to detail
• Ability to tell a story with data – What does the analysis tell you? What do you think the business should do next? Why do you think what is happening, is happening? Ability to influence others using data, especially those without a technical background, to make business recommendations
• Ability and desire to lead projects independently from start to finish, working with internal and external teams to make decisions and maintain momentum
• Excellent time and project management skills, with the ability to manage detail work efficiently and communicate project status effectively to all levels
• Professional agility – able and eager to work in a fast paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities
• Proven track record in meeting aggressive deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience with a major media company (film/TV/digital), particularly on the content distribution/acquisition side
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree in a field of analytic study
