Full Time Job
The Walt Disney Studios encompasses the creation, production, promotion, sales, acquisition and domestic and international distribution of live-action and animated motion pictures, home entertainment releases, live stage plays, and music and soundtrack recordings.
The Senior Demand Planning Analyst provides Operations with estimated production needs at the title level, through the order forecasting process. Maximizes account sales and inventory turns by forecasting consumer demand and developing optimal product assortments and replenishment inventory strategies
Responsibilities
• Responsible for the more complex accounts across the customer base.
• Provides Operations with anticipated needs for catalog product.
• Estimates initial order and replenishment needs for new releases.
• Incorporates account reset and strategy changes into forecasts, and communicates those throughout the organization.
• Develops and uses key performance indicators to identify strengths and opportunities within the forecasting process.
Catalog Sales Forecasting
• Estimates weekly consumer demand at the account level for all titles, incorporating seasonal, promotional and advertising trends.
• Develops store level demand model stocks on a weekly basis.
• Builds promotional decay curves in JDA Demand application for untracked, secondary promotional titles.
Hit Title Sales Forecasting
• Develops decay curves for hit titles and updates forecast daily during the tracking period.
• Provides Replenishment team with daily and weekly model stocks for optimal replenishment order generation.
• Estimates an account and industry 52-week forecast for financial reporting to the Studio.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
• Serves as ongoing Special Project Lead, responsible for managing multiple weekly special projects received from various parts of the organization. These require complex analysis and development of plans of action and recommendations to key departments. Assuming these responsibilities allows the Department Manager to focus on more strategic planning.
• Manages production and distribution of specific reports summarizing sales and production trends for Sr. Management.
• Performs special projects / ad hoc analysis as requested by management or account.
• Assists in the development of processes, system enhancements, and reports (e.g., Key Performance Indicators (KPI), statistical and trends reports) to facilitate execution of responsibilities.
• Owner of new release performance analysis process, analyzing actual performance against plan and developing improvements to forecasting methods to drive increased accuracy.
Assortment Planning
• Recommends optimal product mix strategies by account.
• Facilitates the transfer of model stocks from forecasting system to the replenishment system.
• Communicates account planogram and strategy changes throughout the organization.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of strategies through ad-hoc analysis.
• Identifies demographic and promotional title opportunities.
• Reports the status of Hit titles and promotions to Sr. Management.
Training and Leadership
• Leads team in developing best practices in use of forecasting application.
• Will be the Super-User of the forecasting application, providing direction to other users and problem solving/trouble shooting within the tool.
• Lead trainer of new employees, teaching proper use of the various complex applications in use in the department as well as providing instruction on Disney forecast methods.
Basic Qualifications
• Is adept at implementing and/or designing statistical metrics.
• Is highly proficient in advanced use of Excel including use of filters, v-lookups, pivot tables, graphing, creating complex calculations with nested functions, etc.
• Ability to develop and dissect Excel, Access reports, and other data
• Applies strong forecasting analytics and skills.
• Possesses thorough understanding of retail business environment
• Ability to understand and manage retail Open To Buy
• Demonstrates the ability to frame business problems and draw implications from analysis.

• Demonstrates experience in extracting and segmenting data to facilitate data analysis.

Software Applications / Systems & Tools
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); Experience using demand planning software such as Demand Manager, JDA Demand etc.; Experience in creating and running reports from database applications such as Microstrategy, Essbase & EV Web.
Required Education
BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics or related field; or equivalent experience.
