Disney Digital Studio Services provides on-lot postproduction creative and technical services that add value to filmmakers and Walt Disney Studio stakeholders. Services include sound mixing, editorial rooms, theatre and screening room operation as well as a broad array of digital file-based services in support of filmmaking, asset finishing, distribution and archive. DDSS is focused on innovation, security, client service, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
The Manager, Digital Distribution Services will work with partners in operations, technology, product management & distribution (PMD), and most importantly, with the newly-formed automation services team, to deliver the slate and help on-board new clients into our automation pipeline which will deliver millions of dollars in benefits to the Studio and the company.
This role will provide support, design direction, and testing for critical internal system development and continued iterative development to refine and improve workflows and system efficiencies. The role will also oversee our data capture and analysis to support existing metrics and introducing new metrics to support our ISO business standards and use data and insights to find objective improvement opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
• 7 years' experience in a professional capacity in related areas of expertise (e.g., post production, business management, software development, data analytics with deep knowledge of digital distribution platforms and technical requirements.)
• Experience in leading a diverse team in a fast-paced environment and coaching people through change with deep knowledge and experience in best practices for delivery of file-based workflows and services
• Subject matter expertise in EST/VOD/Digital distribution specifications, file and packaging formats, workflows, deliverables and quality metrics
• Experience in guiding engineering teams to build software products
• Ability to anticipate and respond to client requirements in a pro-active, timely, cooperative and thorough manner
• Experience balancing customer needs with business strategy and fiscal responsibility
• Exhibit superior verbal and written communication skills
• Possess excellent analytical skills with ability to use data and insights to drive business results and operational efficiency
• Able to honestly assess organization's strengths and weaknesses on a regular basis, and develop strategies accordingly
• Able to articulate clear vision and goals, and identify strategies and initiatives to achieve those goals
• Experience using metrics to measure performance and identify areas for operational improvement (experience with six sigma, ISO 9001, or other process monitoring and improvement methodology a plus)
• Able to set both long term strategic and short term tactical goals for the organization
• Able to proactively identify potential human resources and participate in the creation and continuous development of required skills and knowledge with the operations team
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with overseeing a union staff a plus
• ISO/Six Sigma certification preferred but not required
Required Education
• 4-year degree in Film/TV Production, Entrepreneurship, Business, Computer Science
Preferred Education
Masters degree: Film/TV production, entrepreneurship, Business, Computer Science, Finance, Software engineering
