Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI)'s strategic objectives included sustaining growth across franchise portfolio and expanding a franchise management approach across all our businesses and regions. Our vision is to create an aligned Franchise voice to drive measurable value against established goals for DCPI and the enterprise. To realize this vision, we are establishing a DCPI Franchise function that provides clarity, alignment, consistency, and material growth across the DCPI franchise portfolio.
The Director, Franchise Strategy - DCPI serves as a key partner to executive leaders, content partners, and Franchise teams throughout DCPI and The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). This role is an integral member of the DCPI Franchise organization, is based in Glendale, CA, and reports to the Senior Vice President, DCPI Franchise.
Responsibilities
• Develop, communicate and drive long-term strategy for DCPI globally around the applicable franchise(s) that expands audiences and builds lifelong relationships with fans, aligning with 5-year strategy planning
• Provide cohesive, thoughtful, long-term franchise planning that connect and aligns strategies across LOBs to ensure optimization of revenue streams
• Determine and drive additional opportunities for revenue across DCPI by identifying and engaging ''white space,'' or untapped, opportunities for applicable franchises that can be leveraged by multiple LOBs
• Act as the point of accountability for delivering against DCPI long-term Franchise strategy for the applicable franchise(s)
• Provide guidance to DCPI LOBs on Franchise efforts, marketing implementation and sales execution, to ensure alliance with overall DCPI Franchise strategy, goals and objectives
• Define clear, actionable, relevant Franchise KPIs and ensure efforts across DCPI align with and deliver against these KPIs
• Lead the communication of DCPI Franchise strategy to DCPI LOBs
• Working closely with the Business Insights & Analytics team and Finance, define, monitor and analyze Franchise health and performance across DCPI LOBs
• Build and foster strong relationships with content partners and Franchise teams across TWDC, as well as within DCPI globally, to ensure effective partnership
• Serve as principal point of contact for TWDC stakeholders and Content Owners, with DCPI tent pole plans and priorities
• Champion DCPI perspectives in TWDC Franchise conversations
• Ensure DCPI product and storytelling experiences stay true to brand/franchise stories, characters and creative intent
• Partner and collaborate with embedded DCPI Franchise teams on franchise efforts
• Engage DCPI business leaders in appropriate TWDC Franchise conversations
• Harmonize Franchise priorities globally across DCPI LOBs
• Promote and foster best practices and knowledge sharing across DCPI globally
• Partner closely with Synergy and Communications teams on Franchise efforts
Basic Qualifications
• Expert, engaging presentation skills (verbal and written)
• Leadership skills to manage within large multi-disciplined organization
• Excellent communication skills and executive presence
• Strategic thinker
• Ability to collaborate, influence and persuade at all levels across an organization
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the skills to work in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working through a matrix structure to deliver the end solution
• 10-15 years experience in marketing or brand management roles with global mindset, working in a world-class organization
• Combination of consumer products/licensing/interactive/digital media/entertainment businesses experience required, especially related to managing licensing, production, marketing and business development
• Presentation experience to senior executives and large groups required
Required Education
• Bachelor of Science or Arts required; MBA highly desirable
