The Third Floor Inc. is seeking a Paralegal for its New Business and Business Affairs department. The paralegal will be primarily responsible for the overall creation and management of contract administration, including updating The Third Floor Inc. contract management database, drafting pre-negotiated contracts on approved templates and following up on execution of contract paperwork for existing clients, working with external counsel and VP of Production for creation and negotiation of new contracts for new clients, conducting research and generating weekly status reports.
The candidate must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal) as well as the ability to multitask.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Manage, maintain, and complete data entry into a contracts management database
• Calendar all relevant dates and ensure notifications to the relevant internal and external parties
• Conduct research for projects and contracts
• Track agreements, correspondences and action documents internally and externally
• Work with sensitive employee and proprietary information with discretion and confidentiality
• Review external NDAs to allow for execution
• Provide basic document analysis for business department
• Review studio and/or project contracts with Production, Accounting and Previsualization supervisors to ensure all parties agree to terms of contract
• Maintain correspondence with studio/client legal team and The Third Floor Inc. external counsel to ensure timely execution of contracts
• Review extended stay agreements for artists going on location when The Third Floor Inc. has responsibility
• Review and analyze external counsel legal bills
• Create forms
Qualifications:
• Paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program
• Minimum three years of entertainment experience
• Ability to understand Business and Legal Affairs contracts and contractual obligations
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills
• Any experience with international law (England, Japan, China, Canada, Australia) a plus
• Ability to function independently and handle a large volume of contracts and related activity
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong rights management database skills
• The successful candidate will also have outstanding academic credentials and relevant legal/business affairs experience
