Systems Administrator - The Mill US
Reports to:
Head of Engineering
Job Description:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, backing up and maintenance of Storage and File Servers, Network switches, Web Servers and Email servers at The Mill Los Angeles.
The Systems Administrator is responsible for creating and maintaining tools and scripts that are used by junior engineers. An example of this would be tools to deploy software on a large number of computers.
The Systems Administrator will be designing and implementing new networks along with continually improving the existing network design.
The Systems Administrator will be designing and implementing Disaster Recovery processes and procedures
Responsibilities:
• Manages day-to-day operations by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repairs
• Schedules and executes planned outages during hours with least possible affect on the business, for upgrades and maintenance
• Creates guidelines and methods for the installation and management disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and other components.
• Program IP Telephone System and configure IP telephones
• Deploy computer and software installs
• Answer telephone calls to provide support for artists and other users
• Scheduled on a shift pattern to provide support and assistance to all Operators in the building. Shift as arranged with the Head of engineering with occasional work outside of normal hours.
Required skills, knowledge and experience:
• A degree in technology or equivalent professional experience
• Experience as a Systems Administrator within a post production facility would be preferred
• Approachable personality with strong communication skills
