Entertainment public relations agency in Los Angeles seeks an experienced publicity assistant for a full time position. Responsibilities include clerical work (answering telephones, administrative support duties, etc.), responding to media requests, organizing/managing publicity mailings, maintaining/updating media lists, creating/maintaining press clipping reports, Internet research, proof reading, distributing press materials and generally assisting with day-to-day office duties.
Candidates must have administrative work experience, preferably in public/media relations and should be motivated to develop a career in entertainment publicity - must want to learn how to write pitch letters, press releases and pitch news stories to press. A four-year college/university degree is required, preferably in journalism, public relations or English. The applicant must possess excellent writing/communications/interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, organized, personable and be able to handle multiple duties in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills are a must, specifically with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Cision. The applicant must possess strong Internet research skills.
