Technical Project Specialist for Permanent Installations - Long Term Freelance Position
The Lighting Design Group, an internationally recognized broadcast and entertainment lighting design firm in New York City, is looking for an experienced technical project specialist for permanent installations. The position is responsible for commissioning the permanent installation of lighting control systems for broadcast as well as more hybrid projects involving the integration of architectural and entertainment control.
The technical project specialist will be responsible for implementing all aspects of systems commissioning working in concert with the Systems Designer and Project Manager. The position provides technical expertise and onsite support related to lighting equipment and control technology for lighting installations as well as ongoing broadcast production facilities operated by LDG.
In addition, this position will support the Equipment Department in its role of recommending, purchasing, and maintaining broadcast lighting equipment owned by LDG.
Requirements
This position requires the ability to set up and commission various lighting control systems and provide training on select control systems. He or she will be responsible for assisting systems design team with technical research and development of system specifications for systems and lighting designers.
The position requires an experienced person who is highly organized, detail oriented, adaptable to rapidly changing circumstances, a solid team player who has excellent oral and written communication skills. Expert knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office is required; knowledge of IP Networking protocols as well as ETC/Paradigm control systems is desired, other networked lighting control systems, AutoCAD, Vectorworks software and ETC Certification are a plus.
Experience in entertainment lighting for theatre and/or television is required; field experience is preferred, and knowledge of broadcast television production is a plus. The position requires the ability to work the hours required to get the job done. The project specialist position reports to the VP Production.
