Full Time Job
We are looking for an ambitious, creative thinker to help build The Huffington Post's editorial commerce team from the ground up. This new team will experiment with platforms, strategies and growth tactics across all HuffPost formats in order to grow our affiliate marketing presence by creating shoppable stories.
The position is goaled against revenue opportunities and will be based in New York City. The Commerce Specialist will work closely with both our editorial and business development teams. Our ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years, minimum, of writing and editing experience in a newsroom setting, with an understanding of and appreciation for internet trends and culture.
The right person for this job will also be a goal-oriented problem solver; a news and entertainment junkie; an enthusiastic online shopper; and a go-getter who's ready to be all-in on a small team with big aspirations. Previous experience in product journalism or eCommerce is a plus.
Responsibilities:
-- Write, build and occasionally edit commerce stories that are engaging, entertaining and topical
-- Distribute and promote those stories through various on-site and social media channels
-- Set and hold yourself and the team accountable to aggressive goals
-- Use data to inform decision making.
-- Coordinate and maintain a robust editorial calendar that will inform editorial priorities
-- Handle multiple projects at once with varying deadlines
-- Support relationships with third-party vendors
-- Be motivated, curious and self-starting
-- Be ready and willing to pivot as we test new ideas
-- Be a resource for the rest of the newsroom on commerce-related initiatives
