Full Time Job
The Huffington Post seeks an experienced, energetic leader to run its daily news and enterprise video operations. Candidates will have a deep background in visual storytelling and experience producing shortform video. They will also be passionate about collaborating across the newsroom, especially with writers, editors, and data journalists. Experience working across all platforms--desktop, mobile, social--is preferred, as is a fluency with data, analytics and audience development tools. Ideal candidates will be strong ideators and strategists, determined decision makers, inspiring managers, and talent cultivators. Candidates will also be informed, inspired thinkers about the industry, with a broad array of experience, and be active participants tackling the challenges of the business of journalism. The head of news video will report to the editor in chief. This position is based in New York City.
Qualifications
• 7 years working in digital video, ideally in a newsroom environment
• Experience overseeing a team of 15 producers, editors, and shooters
• Deep understanding of all kinds of news reporting: breaking, enterprise, investigative, trends
• Ability to interpret data and analytics to inform coverage decisions and meet goals
• Knowledge of the competitive digital video environment, on and off-platform
• Demonstrated history of creating quick-turn video off news events
• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
• History of working collaboratively across departments, including product, analytics, audience development, social, and business development
• Facility with digital newsroom analytics and tools and skill with incorporating audience information into coverage decisions
• Passion for management and mentorship of newsroom talent
