The List, a national news magazine show produced by The E.W. Scripps Company, is seeking a dynamic, highly creative host/multimedia journalist. This person should have a strong on-camera presence, as well as writing, reporting and ad-libbing skills (we need much more than a reader!). Looking for someone with a sense of humor and passion for pop culture and entertainment news. Candidates must be able to relocate to Phoenix. Please include a reel link on your resume of your work for further review.
Key Responsibilities:
• Generate story ideas, research and set up the content and interviews, work with the producers, write and voice stories, and deliver a daily live-to-tape show Monday through Friday.
• Perform on-air responsibilities and write and produce own material for the show as requested or required
• Must be able to absorb background information related to program content and relate to viewers and guests
• Work with teleprompter, work in the field; and assist with scripting and producing of show content.
• Work with producers, managers and photographers
• Must be very well versed in social media and work to build a strong following.
• Contribute story ideas for key show pieces
• Select video and coordinate the editing for select material that appears on the show.
• Build relationships for the purpose of developing connections for story leads. Develop and cultivate contacts within the community.
• Participate in all assigned special promotions projects
• Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proven track record of strong story telling
• Strong live reporting skills are necessary
• Superior interviewing skills
• Understanding of Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
• Must be a team player and work effectively in a face paced environment
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, high pressure, deadline and content driven and technology-intensive environment
• Ability to ad-lib effortlessly while under pressure
• Effective self-starter with proven ability to produce
• Must have strong organizational, enterprising and investigative skills
• Able to work some flexible hours and shifts as needed
• Ideal candidate is hardworking and impartial
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the internet
Education & Experience/Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications or equivalent experience
• Prior Hosting experience for Cable or Network Television entertainment type show
• Demonstrated experience generating and producing entertainment/news stories
• Demonstrated ability to enterprise, research and plan stories
• Familiarity with I-news is a plus
• Experience in hard and soft news
• Excellent writing and speaking skills
