Job Description - Publicist
The Co-Op is a Los Angeles based full service PR/Buzz Marketing agency with a diverse portfolio of clients under the lifestyle consumer brand umbrella. We are looking for a highly connected editorial focused full time Publicist to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate has:
• 4-5 years experience working in Public Relations on the agency side
• Outstanding organizational skills (list building and list maintenance, calendars, etc.)
• Diverse network of personal media contacts in a wide variety of categories (tech, health, entertainment, TV, blog, etc.)
• Strong friendships and relationships with members of the media
• Strong writing skills (spinning concepts into concise pitches)
• An amazing work ethic willing to go above and beyond to succeed at his/her job
• An innate ability to network and develop relationships hence opportunities for clients
• A strong creative sense and a desire to learn
• A desire to grow with a young, fun and unique agency
Main responsibilities:
• Pitching and securing media placements for all agency clients
• Supporting new business pitches (speaking to the press side)
• Supporting the development of PR plans
• Working hand in hand with the account teams to ensure placements are in line with account plans
• Support drafting press releases and pitches
• Media list development and working with team who will support the development
• Keeping a very up to date media list
• Provide info to account team for all Weekly/Monthly client recaps
• Ongoing media networking and research
• Reading and staying on top of magazines, papers, etc.
• General blasts
• Hire and manage intern if needed
The Publicist will report directly to the founders of the agency and work in tandem with the PR Director.
Salary commensurate with experience.
