Purpose
As a key member of the Executive Management team, and reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Finance will lead the Finance, Legal and Tech Infrastructure departments as well as assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The VP Finance will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company which includes responsibility for financial operations (budgeting, accounting, control, reporting), financial planning and analysis, royalties, tax, pricing and facilities management. In addition to providing overall financial leadership, the VP Finance will serve as the strategic finance partner to operating executives as well as top senior management and representatives at the Board level, providing financial guidance and insight on short and long-term business objectives and decisions.
Responsibilities
• The VP Finance will be responsible for all financial and business planning activities -- including day-to-day operating issues such as accounting and control, reporting, financial analysis and planning, budgeting and forecasting, treasury, tax, audit, royalty, payroll – as well as administrative functions such as tech infrastructure, legal and facilities management
• Serve as key member of Executive Team in developing and implementing realistic strategic business plans.
• Partner with top senior management to provide critical thinking as it relates to financial impact of business decisions on a domestic and international basis.
• Provide senior leadership with accurate and timely financial information to facilitate accountability and effective business decision making.
• Prepare financial, analytical and interpretive reports for CEO, Executive and Board consumption in a timely fashion, including analysis of performance, cash flow, and capital requirements – including preparation and participation in Board/Shareholder meetings.
• Ensure that the appropriate and effective financial infrastructure is in place to accommodate company's current ongoing business requirements as well as future needs. This includes all aspects of accounting and reporting systems.
• Oversee strategic initiatives to improve gross margins and price realization through financially-driven product operations and lifecycle management, discounting policies, and pricing optimization.
• Support longer-term strategic initiative, such as financings, acquisition due diligence, asset monetization, etc.
• Ensure that systems and processes are up-to-date and an effective and proactive finance organization is in place across the organization on a global basis.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the company's Board/Owner, financial institutions, investment community, insurance providers, attorneys, audit firms, landlords and clients.
• Manage global office and technology infrastructure, with an emphasis on supporting world-class global operations that support brand excellence, migrating technology operations to lower-cost cloud providers, and limiting overall operating costs.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
• VP Finance level experience as a successful, broad-gauged financial executive with at least 10 years of finance leadership experience and a proven record of accomplishment with dynamic and well-managed companies ($50M revenue minimum)
• Industry depth and insight into digital media, entertainment, digital content, and/or e-commerce key players, trends and opportunities to leverage for BEN.
• Financially-oriented business executive who has accomplishments in ''going beyond the numbers'' in dissecting/analyzing a company's business practices and product lines; and in identifying/exploiting opportunities for reducing costs, improving productivity, and enhancing profit performance. A quick study who can rapidly gain the confidence and respect of an organization soliciting its ideas and suggestions.
• An effective and creative strategic team leader and motivator with excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a mix of personalities and executives.
• Demonstrated track record of understanding the operational issues around late-stage startup, hyper-growth businesses where revenues, cost measurement and control are key to the business' success. He/she will have exhibited a track record of success in partnering with line management to successfully grow a similar type of business.
• Excellent leadership, management, communication, analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and with impeccable personal integrity and a high energy level.
• Should be an intellectually bright, enthusiastic, productive leader who commands respect, has broad-based credibility and is capable of consistently motivating people to take action.
• Open and straightforward operating style; someone with a natural and effective consultative approach who will gain the trust and respect of employees at all levels.
• A hands-on, ''team'' player who can operate effectively in a collaborative environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills, and able to function effectively as a member of the company's senior management team while forging close working relationships with key line managers throughout the organization.
• A resourceful, action-oriented individual who possesses a proactive sense of urgency, and who knows how to overcome obstacles to get things done in a timely fashion.
