Full Time Job
Position Title: Sr Manager Music Rights/Clearances & Client Development
Purpose:
This position is responsible for growing the Greenlight clearances business, with special focus on music, while also overseeing and managing the execution of business-to-business music licensing and clearance programs. Senior Manager is charged with servicing and maintaining all aspects of client relationships on national accounts, driving new revenue streams, and client development across consumer products and media categories.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate clearance inquiries from internal and external sources, and promptly respond with knowledgeable feedback and recommendations.
• Negotiate and execute various types of Rights Clearances (talent, music, movie, literary, etc.) to close deals that meet clients’ objectives.
• Issue fee quotes, budget specifications, and conduct ongoing contract negotiations (inclusive of amendments and renewals) on behalf of clients.
• Maintain a consistent, client-facing profile and proactively approach prospective clients to generate a pipeline of new revenue.
• Prepare and present creative, on-brand, detailed project proposals to clients.
• Build roster of clients including viable Master Service Agreements (MSA).
• Actively upsell all BEN services, as appropriate.
• Work closely with the Greenlight team to develop strategy for managing projects that result in revenue growth, while meeting clients’ clearance needs, production deadlines, and budget specifications.
• Draft request letters, deal memos, contracts, and execute license agreements fully and accurately.
• Maintain detailed records to effectively streamline data management of request letters, licensing agreements, supporting documentation, etc. according to the policies of the Greenlight Rights Department.
• Broker between clearance entities and management teams while obtaining studio, label and talent consent on behalf of clients.
• Facilitate proper and accurate closure of projects (e.g. fully executed agreements, payment submission approvals, etc.)
• Liaise with Accounting to prepare invoices and associated documentation.
• Interface with Finance to operate the systematic quarterly royalties processing hands-on in support of royalty based clients.
• Build relationships with key rights holders in the music industry and with clients with high revenue potential.
• Attend industry events as appropriate, or as required while identifying opportunities for Greenlight sponsorship and/or other participation.
• Utilize and update the Greenlight CRM system consistently for maximum productivity.
• Participate in creating, monitoring, reviewing, and updating CRM workflow and business procedures and policies.
• Proactively and openly communicate, on a regular basis, with Senior Management regarding the status of all projects and client development.
• Share relevant project and industry data and information with team members, and solicit advice and information from team members to as necessary to improve servicing of client projects and help improve future performance of the team overall.
• Actively contribute to and encourage a working atmosphere of inclusion, respect, and open, honest communication with all fellow employees of BEN.
• Train and manage Client Coordinator.
MSA Accounts:
• Manage comprehensive process of licensing digital media assets and intellectual property for leading client in the social expression industry.
• Provide day-to-day account management by making ongoing recommendations for brand.
• Suggest and execute new program ideas, marketing channels, celebrity and influencer seeding programs, identify social media and press opportunities.
• Create best practice templates for brand briefs and product reference documents.
• Attend client status meetings to keep clients informed and receive direction on new and existing projects and initiatives.
Contacts:
This position has daily contact with all levels of Greenlight managers, employees and clients worldwide.
Qualifications
and Skills Required:
• 5-7 years of experience in Music Licensing and/or Rights Clearance Industry with duties that included: sales, customer service, deal negotiations, sourcing content, and IP licensing (e.g. talent, music, copyrights).
• Experience in reading, reviewing, and redlining legal license agreements, particularly those involving intellectual property rights such as copyright, trademark, and publicity rights.
• Strong relationships in the entertainment industry.
• Able to evaluate content for rights issues.
• Broad knowledge of history, culture and current events required.
• Fluency in additional language(s) is a plus but not a requirement.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are essential.
