Position Summary:
Reporting to Vice President of Programming, the Senior Director, Programming is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive and coherent program of artistic presentations for the Center. Such programming may take the form of regular series and/or annual patterns of presentation, recurrent or ''one-off'' festivals and occasional signature events and may extend to the creative use of electronic media and other emerging technologies. This position will work together with artists, education professionals, board, staff, audiences and the local community. The Senior Director, Programming will be expected to identify suitable product, develop and manage supporting budgets and facilitate selected shows from contract negotiation through settlement, as well as artist and production coordination and final presentation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Exercise sound judgment and produce successful results both artistically and financially;
• Work with Vice President, Programming, to create diverse programs for the Center that are in fulfillment of its mission and are financially sustainable and guide the long range strategic development of Center's mix of artistic programs in a diverse patron environment with programs that are either self-produced by the Center, produced in consortia or produced by another organization at the Center or a renter.
• Develop a deep familiarity with the wide range of Miami's community cultural groups and establish strong, supportive and collegial relationships with them;
• Serve as a resource for other cultural organizations and be a leader who freely shares expertise and resources with other organizations;
• Supervise the Programming Team in collaboration with the Vice President, Programming, including end of year evaluation;
• Produce both single events and large festivals both in the Center and, possibly, other venues in the community;
• Pursue the development of programs produced or presented by/for/with the Center by maintaining and developing relationships with lead commercial partners and presenters as well maintaining and developing relationships within the network of non-profit organizations;
• Negotiate contracts for presentations with creative teams, agents, et al.;
• Create, oversee producing and programming budgets;
• Strengthen the institutional positioning of the Center in the South Florida region, nationally, and internationally; developing the reputation of the Center within the arts and wider communities, producing and presenting organizations and creative talent.
• Liaise on a regular and ongoing basis with the Directors, Programming and Facilities Rental as well as with members of other Center departments. This position should work with the entire Programming Department on presentations as well as other pertinent departments.
• Work closely with Director, Education and Outreach to explore possible collaborations with the Education department at the Center such as guest lectures or presentations at schools or for schools by artists being presented at the Center.
• Supervise the Engagement Managers to execute duties related to Artist and Hospitality Riders to keep within the show budgets and settlements.
• Nurture and enhance the working relationships with the Resident Companies as well as nurture and develop small and medium-sized arts groups that may use the Center's various venues on an ongoing basis.
• Represents the Center in local, national, and international forums on programming and presenting as requested by Vice President, Programming.
• Performs related and other duties as assigned by Vice President, Programming.
Note: This position may require some travel and requires flexibility in scheduling the workday. The position is required to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required; or equivalent preferred from an accredited institution of higher education in an arts management related area;
• Broad knowledge of and familiarity with the national and international performing arts, artists and new works, and industry artistic and organizational trends.
• 8 years of experience in the performing arts field at least five of which should be in a managerial role.
• Significant management experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit performing arts sectors at least some of which some should be in multi-art form circumstances.
• Developed administrative, negotiation and budgetary skills.
• Experience building and working within non-profit budgets.
• Extensive experience in contracting and working with performing artists.
• Proven success programming a similar size performing arts venue.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary environment.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently coordinate multiple tasks.
Personal Characteristics:

• Affable, easy to get to know, with a sense of humor
• An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
