Part Time Unpaid Internship
The A&R Report, is looking for music-focused journalists to join the team as a writer / blogger, to create trustworthy, provocative content for the site. The ideal candidate is a brilliant writer and reporter with a finger on the pulse of what's going on in the music industry and emerging artists. He or she will help shape the voice and direction of the brand with short and long-form stories, reviews of up and coming talent and concert/show recaps. He or she should have an interest in discovering new artists and an eagerness to learn more about the music industry. We're looking for curious writers and journalists who are interested in exploring the culture of music and emerging artists in all of its facets. This is a broad beat that extends beyond a specific genre.
The most valuable qualities a candidate can bring to the table are: a strong voice, smart reporting strategies, fresh ideas, and an ability to consistently execute those ideas at a high level.
Write 2 to 5 pieces of editorial content per week
Communicate with music editor about daily stories or artists to pitch
Be constantly on the lookout for breaking new artists and trends
Quickly report and analyze news related music, music technology, and pop culture related to independent or emerging artists.
Tireless work ethic, as well as an ability to work at the pace of the Internet while remaining levelheaded and detail-oriented
Ability to create content in a variety of formats, from reported stories to lists to Twitter roundups
Desire to push the envelope
