Job Description for Traffic Operations Manager
General Description of Traffic Department The Traffic Department is responsible for producing a daily log, (a chronological listing of programs and commercials showing air time(s) of each element). The Traffic Department also manages the workflow of creative materials, through the coordination of various internal departments and outside entities. Tennis Channel's Traffic Department directly supports the Ad Sales Department, which is based in New York, New York. All personnel within the Traffic Department must operate with a sense of urgency, pleasant demeanor, aptitude to troubleshoot and the ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Position: Traffic Operations Manager
Overview: This position is responsible for managing the Traffic Team and aiding in producing the stations' daily logs (Tennis Channel and Mnet). This position functions as a supportive team member for various departments, including being a direct support for Ad Sales. This position reports to the Director, Ad Sales Operations. The ideal candidate is a highly proactive role-model, who is willing to take initiative and has a proven track record of effectively leading a team in a positive manner.
Daily Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Train, coach, manage and review Traffic Team
• Gathers, interprets and manages a large volume of data, including creating a daily broadcast log for Tennis Channel and Mnet
• Co-manage ISCI distribution for DirecTV and ESPN, as well as manage the manual reconciliation process, during major tournaments and or Slams
• Create/place show formats in SIMS/Broadway database systems, including program changes and generating logs
• Enter timing sheets into database after shows have been edited
• Maximize commercial inventory on logs, reconcile logs daily, trouble-shoot and resolve issues
• Create/generate/distribute weekly inventory reports to various internal teams
• Schedule TV commercials, on-air interstitials, promotion spots, IDs, bumpers, snipes, end credits, and secondary events on the daily Traffic log(s)
• Liaison between Master Control, Transmission and Ad Sales Department regarding operational needs
• On call 24/7, including travel to Hayden Facility (In Culver City) and assist with Operations inquiries, concerns and or questions
• Proactively create/implement department policies and procedures in an effort to streamline workflow(s) and increase accuracy and efficiencies
• Manage updates/revisions for contact sheets and department's instructional one-sheets
• Knowledge of TV and media terminology, Slams, tournaments, original programming and daily programming schedules for Tennis Channel and Mnet
• Maintain and distribute Auto IDs and Supplier information (internally and externally) accurately and in a timely manner
• Liaison for various departments, including Traffic, Ad Sales, Finance, Program Scheduling Teams and coordinates with Promotion, Production, Marketing and Network Operations to obtain all necessary information for accurate and timely promo scheduling and reporting
• Assist with Finance reconciling and invoice inquiries
• Confirm hit times for aired features during Slams and various tournaments using Volicon
• Maintain Traffic information on company's servers and Traffic's Email Inbox
• Maintain positive relationships with advertisers, clients, vendors, etc.
• Assist with department duties and special projects as assigned by Director of Traffic & Program Operations and Vice President of Programming

• Ensure accuracy of team's daily workflow
• Facilitate all workflow and communication with a sense of urgency
• Competent/flexible team member
• Create/implement policies and or procedures to enhance department's workflow with various teams
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in television Traffic, with at least 2 years of those years in a management/supervisory role
• Detail-oriented, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong inter-personal skills and a team player
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and direct a team in a detail-oriented, mission critical, demanding, deadline driven and dynamically changing environment
• Ability to proactively assess issues, implement changes, set priorities, solve problems, resourceful, work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work effectively under tight deadlines
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work through challenges methodically and with logic
• Ability to work independently, as well as be a strong part of a team
Bonus Qualifications
• Intermediate to Advance Excel a plus
• Experience with Broadway a plus
• Live sports experience a plus
