Job Description for Manager of Program Operations
General Description Tennis Channel's Programming and Traffic Departments are responsible for producing and administering many different elements, which are composed of the daily log. Some of the elements include live match play, live studio programming, library materials, original programming and Supplier inventory. The Manager of Program Operations is responsible for the interface of these elements, across the various sources of transmissions, contract commitments, playback restrictions and commercial inventory requirements. In addition, this role is responsible for identifying, trouble-shooting and resolving SIMS scheduling database issues. There is heavy reliance regarding day-of-air concerns, as pertaining to live/recorded programming and Supplier inventory placement and or movement. The quick resolution regarding all issues is a vital part of Tennis Channel's success.
Position Title: Manager of Program Operations
Overview: This position is responsible for managing the internal workflow between various teams (Programming, Production, Master Control and Traffic) and aiding in communicating the priorities and procedures necessary to maximize broadcast quality, content usage, billing inventory and maintaining the integrity and value of inventory. The Manager of Program Operations must be a flexible individual with the ability to anticipate various departments' needs and make decisions with integrity. The ideal candidate is willing to take initiative, with a keen eye for details. The Manager of Program Operations must work well in a fast-paced collaborative environment, will be on-call during weekends and or during tournaments and must have the ability to commute back-and-forth between our two offices (Culver City and Santa Monica).
Daily Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Work closely with Production, Master Control and Transmission Departments to determine efficient operational workflow needs for Programming and Traffic.
Quickly resolve day-of-air concerns for Programming and Traffic Departments.
Coordinate Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Plus transmission requirements between outside tournament vendors, Hayden staff and program scheduler.
Develop and implement weekly contingency plans for live and live to tape event programs, based on contract commitments, playback restrictions and contractual inventory units.
Provide direction for Master Control regarding movement of matches and Supplier inventory.
On call 24/7, including travel to Hayden Facility (In Culver City) and assist with Operations inquiries, concerns and or questions.
Manage, schedule and resolve show formats in SIMS.
Proactively advise preditors regarding cut-downs and request missing timing sheets.
Proactively secure accurate formats from clients airing Supplier units.
Ensure Supplier units air during scheduled matches and provide direction for Master Control in the event matches are moved.
Maintain Tape ID inventory control.
Lead in weekly meeting regarding tasks related to the Manager of Program Operations role.
Assist with department duties and special projects as assigned by Director of Traffic and Program Operations and or the Vice President of Programming.

Able to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion.
Awareness of Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Plus' programming schedules.
Punctual and reliable attendance.
Ability and willingness to proactively think, troubleshoot, problem-solve and communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing with various teams.
Demonstrate time management skills and meet daily expectations provided by Director of Traffic and Program Operations and the Vice President of Programming.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of daily workflow.
Facilitate all workflow and communication with a sense of urgency.
Competent/flexible team member.
Create/implement policies and or procedures to enhance internal departments' workflow with various teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 to 5-years of experience in sports television.
Scheduling in the area(s) of Programming, Traffic and or Operations is a must.
Live sports experience is a must.
Detail-oriented, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong inter-personal skills and a patient team player.
Ability to proactively identify issues, implement changes, set priorities and solve problems, while being resourceful, work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient using Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel) - Intermediate Level.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work effectively under tight deadlines.
Problem-solving skills and ability to work through challenges methodically and with logic.
