Job Summary:
This role will perform a variety of TD tasks related to live, pre-recorded, studio and field production, all in support of a 24x7 TV broadcast channel. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, responsibility for all facets of video production projects and daily operation of video switching and special effects equipment.
Essential Functions:
Operate all video switching and special effects equipment for TV production primarily in a live studio environment
• Act as liaison between producers, directors, clients and technical crew to facilitate the TV production process
• Operate all video switching and special effects equipment for TV production primarily in a live studio environment
• Operate routing equipment which may require patching of video, audio and other signals
• Setup and operate different types of television/video cameras and associated equipment, including studio and remote cameras, Jib crane and a multi-camera robotic system
• Operate lighting control system and make adjustments
• Operate video control (shading) equipment
• Perform other tasks, as assigned, including, but not limited to, Broadcast technician, Audio technician, VTR operator, Content Server System operator, Transmission/Satellite Control (TOC) operator and Master Control operator
• Perform same/similar duties on remote broadcasts, as assigned
• Adhere to Company procedures and policies, and management and supervisory directives
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Five years overall broadcast operations experience at a local TV station, cable/satellite channel or other industry-related activities
• Five years' experience working as a technical director in a live television studio or remote environment including switching all forms of live TV events, utilizing accepted operational techniques to achieve a high quality broadcast
• Hands-on and/or working knowledge of systems/equipment used in functions identified above, including analog/digital video/audio signals and monitoring equipment
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to travel to remote broadcast sites, as assigned
• Ability to lift and carry loads up to 70 pounds
• Ability to work well in a broadcast team environment, including talent, producers and directors, under strict time deadlines
• Willingness and ability to work varied schedules and to work overtime and/or holidays
Experience/Training/Education/Certification:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED; strongly prefer AA degree in related field
Minimum five years' experience working in a live television studio or remote environment, utilizing accepted operational techniques to achieve a high quality broadcast
