Job Description:
This role will perform a variety of tasks related to live, pre-recorded, studio and field production, all in support of a 24x7 TV broadcast channel. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, operation of video server equipment, videotape recorders/players, satellite receive equipment and signal transmission and monitoring equipment.
Essential Functions:
• Setup and operate different types of video/audio recording and playback devices in a simultaneous, multi-tasking environment
• Take direction from control room personnel for content playback during live broadcasts
• Control and configure satellite antenna and receive equipment
• Coordinate incoming and outgoing satellite and/or Telco feeds and adjust video and audio signal levels for optimum quality
• Create rundowns, segment timings and quality checks
• Perform dubbing operations, as needed
• Complete formal paperwork for Traffic and other departments
• Create/maintain appropriate logs and labels for removable media
• Perform other tasks, as assigned, including, but not limited to, Broadcast technician, Audio technician and Master Control operator
• Perform same/similar duties on remote broadcasts, as assigned
• Adhere to Company procedures and policies, and management and supervisory directives
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Three to five years overall broadcast operations experience at a local TV station, cable/satellite channel or other industry-related activities, or equivalent
• Minimum two years experience working as Videotape operator in a live television studio or remote environment, utilizing accepted operational techniques to achieve a high quality broadcast
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to travel to remote broadcast sites, as assigned
• Ability to lift and carry loads up to 70 pounds
• Ability to work well in a broadcast team environment, including talent, producers and directors, under strict time deadlines
• Willingness and ability to work varied schedules and to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays
• Hands-on and/or working knowledge of systems/equipment used in functions identified above, including analog/digital audio (SD and HD) signals and monitoring equipment
Experience/Training/Education/Certification:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED; prefer AA degree in related field
Minimum two years' experience in a tape playback environment and working in a live television studio or remote environment, utilizing known operational techniques to achieve a high quality broadcast
