Job Summary:
On-air talent will appear on live television to report, analyze and discuss horseracing on a nationwide basis. Talent will be asked to explain handicapping and other related pari-mutuel information to a television audience, while taking direction from production staff.
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include making live on-air appearances hours at a time, having solid knowledge base of horse industry news and rules of horseracing, able to understand and discuss wagering. Preparing for shows with production staff and contributing to the content and flow of live broadcasts is required. Possible traveling when needed. Script reading is minimal to nonexistent. Announcers are to ad lib for hours at a time with direction being given to them via IFB. All appearances are on live television.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in horseracing, on-air announcing, television presence and communication in a professional manner
• Must be able to work an 8 hour day
• Must be able to work any days of the week (Mon-Sun)
• Must arrive a minimum of 2 hours before shift start for on-air prep
• Required to attend production meetings periodically or as needed
• May be asked to participate in activities for the company related to Marketing, PR or Customer Service
• Must maintain professional on-air appearance as required by standards set by TVG/Trackside Live and cannot alter such without prior approval from the company or VP of Production
• Research and preps information as it pertains to horse racing and provide accurate information to viewers.
Experience/Training/Education/Certification:
• Min 2 years at a broadcast television network doing live on-air announcing in horseracing
• Strongly prefer having background in sports broadcasting (live) and horse racing knowledge
• Familiarity with horse racing industry, pari-mutuel wagering, statistics information and analysis
• Min high school diploma or GED. Prefer an AA degree in Communication/Journalism.
