TVG, the official TV and Interactive Wagering partner of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and a subsidiary of Betfair Group Ltd, the premier e-gaming betting community, is among the most widely distributed horseracing networks in the world. TVG viewers in certain areas can wager interactively on races via telephone, the Internet, TVG Mobile or Interactive Television.
You will be responsible for directing live on-air broadcast of horse racing events and interfacing with other broadcast and production team members. You will develop pre-show outlines and manage meetings with teams (pre and post show) to ensure flawless execution in a live broadcast environment.
Essential Functions:
•Direct live shows, taped shows, newsbreaks and any other studio or remote production that requires the services of a Director
•Work as a Director / Technical Director or in some cases as a Director / Producer / Technical Director on smaller remote productions
•Meet with Producers to prepare for each production and ensure that there is one cohesive vision for the show.
•Prep Talent for any production when blocking is involved or elements that require coordination for timing purposes and supporting the talent and producer's requirements for the show
•Bring ideas to the Producers and Talent that might help in the look of the show or how it is to be executed.
•Communicate all production elements to corresponding crew (team) members, including but not exclusive to the following: Tech Director, Audio, Camera Operators, Stage Managers, Associate Directors, Graphic Artists, Deko Operators, Master Control, Tape, EVS, Video Control, Engineering, and any other relevant personnel.
•Report directly to the Supervising Director
•Ability to handle pressure, remaining calm in a live on-air setting and continue to deliver expected on-air content
Qualifications:
Candidate should have several years of directing experience within live show environment. Live sports directing are preferred and live horseracing is an extreme plus. Director needs advanced knowledge of the broadcast operational set-up of an on-site production truck, along with the inner workings of a studio set-up. In addition to directing responsibilities, candidate will be looked upon to work with assigned Producers and Operations employees within all broadcasts. Additionally, Director works closely with current management on executing assigned company goals.
Experience/Training/Education/Certification:
Minimum 5 years' experience directing within a live show environment
AA degree in Communications/TV Broadcast; BA degree highly preferred
Familiarity with working in an HD broadcast environment
Familiarity with using dual IT platforms such iPad and PC systems (MS Office)
Horse racing knowledge a huge plus
