The Manager must be able to function in a newsroom-style environment, producing news-quality stories, with very tight turnaround. The Manager needs to have creative vision and be a ''storyteller,'' and have a demonstrated ability to translate that vision and story into engaging and impactful video pieces. Solid experience in a similar role and a proven track record assessing, developing, managing and delivering creative video projects is required.
Description: The Manager of Video Production Services will assist in creating a video strategy, processes and guidelines, as well as manage multiple ongoing or project-specific videos with internal stakeholders and teams. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the entire production cycle, from conception to completion, with the cornerstone of the process being a comprehensive creative brief developed in close conjunction with the Communications team and internal clients. As such, the Manager must have experience managing and delivering video projects with the creative brief in mind. This person will manage external vendor resources to ensure overall and internal clients' objectives are met and appropriately reflected in the finished video product and at the right cost.
Supervisor: Senior Director, Editorial Services
Description of Responsibilities:
General
- Monitor incoming video project requests on a daily basis, work with internal clients to determine project scope and costs and identify possible approaches and resources to meet needs
- Work with Communications Leads and internal clients to develop comprehensive creative briefs that clearly outline a video project's objectives, key messages, desired audience mindsets, strategies, tactics, calls-to-action and list of interviewees with appropriate sample questions
- Work with the Communications Leads, internal clients and designated resources to coordinate and manage video production, including concepting, shooting, review, post-production and delivery
- Coordinate with internal clients and subject matter experts to ensure that brand, messaging/story, products and business are accurately and appropriately represented
- Keep Communications Leads and other internal stakeholders apprised of project priorities and due dates, and expedite and prioritize rush projects accordingly; keep all informed of conflicts, delays or any other unusual situations
- Advocate for appropriate timelines of projects and obtain deadline extensions when necessary
- Enforce adherence to work-flow processes, brand guidelines and deadlines

- Closely collaborate with Communications Leads and other team members on process improvement and ways to improve traffic system and overall project management
- Maintain project schedule that aligns with editorial calendar for weekly updates as well as monthly and/or quarterly metric output
Content Development/Editorial
- Design and develop video content used across various mediums to achieve communication strategies and objectives
- Translate leadership messages into videos that are clear and appropriate for all levels of associates
- Help produce creative briefs for video projects, campaigns or other initiatives that are part of the enterprise editorial calendar
- Contribute to a robust, consistent flow of creative story ideas for enterprise editorial calendar
- Responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality, accuracy, relevancy and impact for every piece produced
People/Relationship Management
- Establish a level of trust and credibility that enables the influence of both direct and indirect leaders
- Build and manage relationships with other Communications team members, business and functional leads and other critical stakeholders to promote the strategic agenda, identify communications opportunities, and foster collaboration and mutual support
- Demonstrate ability to work with senior leaders and cross functional teams across multiple organizational lines
- Demonstrate ability to work independently, manage up where appropriate and engage/manage resources as required
- Exemplify and exercise a strong service mindset and a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism at all times, but especially in high-pressure or stressful situations
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Advertising or other appropriately relevant area of study required
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 5-7 years video production experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in major market broadcast or with high-level, major market video production and post-production studio
Experience and Skills (cont.)
- Experience with managing all phases of video production, including concepting, scoping, creating briefs, coordinating production and review schedules, editing and delivery
- Ability to write/understand smart, concise, on-theme/message creative briefs and scripts
- Ability to clearly articulate technical and editorial requirements to production partners
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for closely interacting with team members, internal clients, vendors and crews, and the ability to offer credible counsel and direction, wield influence when needed, and provide constructive feedback as required
- Demonstrated ability to make smart editorial decisions that benefit each piece
- Understanding of video production workflow, budgets and timelines
- Unrelenting attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to develop and maintain a strict production schedule, meet rapid deadlines and help lead a fast-paced team and crew
- Solid understanding of quality digital shooting and editing
- Knowledge of web standards for video production
- Comfortable working with different types of creative files
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher) and Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premier/After Effects, DVD Studio Pro) required
- Proficiency in a range of other digital platforms and apps (e.g. Google Docs, Google Analytics, CMS, social media platforms, etc.) preferred
- Experience with ExactTarget or similar platform a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Based in Houston
- 10-15% travel may be required
