Considerations: Extended hours, weekend work, and some holidays will be required leading up to the Film Festival.
Position Summary: Manages the editorial integrity of various print and digital publications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversees the Festival publications timeline and pagination for publication layout, performs edits and proofs pages.
• Trains and supervises editorial staff for successful and accurate publications production.
• Tracks the status of each publication's section and details the approval status with various internal stakeholders and provides frequent updates to Senior Manager.
• Oversees the collection and verification of film data, information, stills, filmmaker headshots, etc. in conjunction with the Film Office staff.
• Maintains the Marketing database with accurate, up-to-date information as it becomes available and oversees the transfer of stored information to InDesign.
• Manages the production of graphic assets (film stills, filmmaker bios, etc.) for online publications.
• Establishes an asset transfer process with Publications Designer and assist Designer with file transfer, proof approval, as needed.
• Oversee and assign edits for other marketing materials, i.e. emails, ads, etc
• Write a comprehensive wrap report.
• Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Employee has legal authorization to work in the United States.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• 3 years experience working as an editor with print and digital publications.
• Experience managing staff.
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Creative Writing, or related field preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Strong knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Must be a self starter and able to motivate staff.
• Ability to lead by example and act with integrity.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of Excel, FileMaker Pro, Gmail, Google Drive and Calendar.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A professional attitude and demeanor (tact, sensitivity, and diplomacy).
• Detail oriented, able to audit work to avoid mistakes, and perform tasks accurately.
• Ability to negotiate editorial decisions in a professional manner.
