Sugar Hill Records is an independent Nashville-based record label specializing in Americana, roots, and bluegrass music. Established in 1978, Sugar Hill has been home to some of the world's most celebrated musicians, including Nickel Creek, Dolly Parton, Townes Van Zandt, Tony Rice, Doc Watson, Sam Bush, Marty Stuart, and countless others. It has cultivated a worldwide community of loyal supporters while garnering countless accolades, including fourteen Grammy Awards.
We have one marketing and publicity internship available for the fall 2014 semester. While it is an unpaid position, the Sugar Hill internship comes with perks. It is an exclusive position that provides the opportunity to work with world-class musicians and industry leaders, attend some amazing concerts, and join the growing community of Americana music professionals.
We keep our interns busy in a variety of areas, and encourage each of them to contribute his/her own unique skills, ideas, and passions to our team. We are a small, hard-working staff that works closely together in all aspects of the company, and each staff member wears many different hats - our interns should expect to do so as well.
Applicants should expect to spend timeā¦
- Working in support of our artists on the road - maintaining tour info, communicating with promoters and venue managers, and coordinating grassroots marketing campaigns.
- Assisting with tour press and radio promotion as needed
- Assisting with research to maintain our database of industry professionals.
- Preparing packages of promo materials and CDs for shipment.
- Assisting with online marketing (Facebook, Twitter, etc) and the development of web assets (promotional videos, contests, etc).
- Designing custom posters, fliers, and web graphics
- General office work and errands around Music City
Applicants should be...
- Passionate about music, especially the Americana and roots variety
- Computer-savvy and experienced with social networking. Experience with Adobe Photoshop/ Premiere, HTML, or general computer troubleshooting is a plus
- Able to multi-task, learn quickly, stay organized, and follow instructions
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and confident in taking on projects of their own
Please note...
- Applicant must attend a 4-year degree granting program at an accredited college/university
- Applicant must be able to receive and provide proof of credit for the internship
- Applicant must have reliable transportation to and from our office in Franklin, as well as to and from locations in the metro-Nashville area for events/shows and errands/assignments
