JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor performance of agreements to ensure minimum delivery and release requirements are fulfilled and all obligations under agreements are being met.
- Track contractual option triggers and ensure deadlines for exercising options are met.
- Liaise closely with the Licensing, Copyright and A&R Administration staffs to monitor song deliveries, penny rate calculations and licenses for all of our songwriters.
- Maintain database of all existing contract summaries.
• Address the requirements and concerns of Sony/ATV executive management, outside attorneys, and publisher and songwriter clients as directed by VP, BA.
- Effectively communicate the status and performance of agreements to Sony/ATV executive and creative management and clients.
- Investigate disputes or complaints regarding contractual requirements.
• Liaise with Royalty staff to help calculate contractual and option advance payments based on contractual formulas, including the evaluation of songwriter earnings and mechanical penny rate computations by the record labels.
• Generate option reports for executive management review and draft option deal memos for executive management approvals.
• Issue formal contractual notices and pre-payment letter agreements.
• Under the direction of VP/BA, issue reports and provide contractual data to Accounting/Finance on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis as required by Finance and Sony Corporation of America (SCA.)
- Budget: Prepare advance spend forecast for fiscal year budgeting. Meet with creative executive management to review the status of deals and project anticipated advances for the current and next fiscal year. Provide updates to Accounting to revise projections throughout the year.
- Capitalized Writer Review: Report key contractual terms for active clients for the purpose of analyzing capitalized advances and balance sheet exposure.
- Commitments & Contingencies: Provide quarterly reports to Accounting listing all contractual advance commitments as required by SCA for asset valuation.
- Monthly Cash Forecasts: Provide anticipated advance payments to Accounting on a monthly basis to report cash flow requirements to SCA.
• Under the direction of VP/BA, prepare special projects as needed by senior management requiring a thorough knowledge of internal data resources, such as Tempo, Sony/ATV and EMI imaging systems and departmental reports, and as well as a familiarity with the Nashville administrative staff organization and an optimal working relationship with the administration team.
• Other ad hoc responsibilities as directed and required.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must Love Music
• 4+ years of music industry related experience and/or similar experience in contract administration
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Strong research, analytical and math skills
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to work on multiple tasks, think spontaneously and meet deadlines
• Experience with music publishing administration preferred
• Bachelor's degree required
