SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Sony/ATV's Business Development department oversees the financial review of all deal making worldwide and ensures the company's investments meet appropriate risk/return thresholds. The Business Development position will be an integral member of the Business Development team in New York and an active participant in the investment analysis process. Responsibilities include:
-Prepare cash flow valuations for potential new signings, acquisitions, and business ventures (IRR/NPV).
-Perform historical deal analysis for signed writer deals, acquired catalogs and other investments.
-Interact with senior management, senior A&R staff, Business Affairs and Business Development staff to facilitate their strategic deal making process.
-Participate in developing and reviewing analytical tools.
-Interface with both domestic and foreign offices to assist with valuations and analysis.
-Good working knowledge of publishing terms and financial implications.
-Collect and analyze data from copyright and royalty system.
-Prepare or assist with special projects as needed.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
-2-4+ years of music industry related experience or similar experience in business development or financial modeling
-Must have advanced Excel skills with working knowledge of pivot tables and data analysis. Must also have general computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
-Strong research, analytical and math skills
-Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
-Ability to work on multiple tasks, think spontaneously and meet deadlines
-Experience with music publishing legal, finance, and/or administration preferred
-BS/BA degree preferred with a major in Finance or related field
