SPT's London based Traffic team currently have an exciting positon for an On-Demand Coordinator to join their team on a 12 month fixed term basis.
The SPT Traffic team manage technical delivery workflows with content distributors around the world, working to bring movies, programmes and other content into the company. This work supports SPT's EMEA channels, which cover General Entertainment, Kids, and Movies genres.
The Traffic team also manage the distribution of content into SPT's many VOD services across the EMEA territory and supervise all content through SPT's suite of delivery, QC and other material handling systems. They work closely with colleagues in the Compliance team to ensure that content has been confirmed as technically and editorially suitable for broadcast in the destination territories, and with the Scheduling team to ensure content is accurately logged in SPT's metadata systems including the Vision application from Imagine Communications.
There is close liaison with all Territory Directors, channel management, acquisition, planning and on-air teams across the business, as well as with the Technical Operations and IT groups on the business systems and infrastructure that underpin the department.
The Role:
Key Responsibilities for the On-Demand Coordinator include:
• Working closely with the Senior On-Demand Coordinator ensuring that information is shared across channels and territories.
• Responsible for coordinating the content to external VOD client and the first point of contact for any VOD queries.
• Maintaining consistent communication between internal business partners and external client to ensure optimum service is provided.
• Ordering and tracking material, sourcing programme assets, submitting content for transcoding and branding (if required).
• Carrying out spot QC checks of transcoded assets.
• Troubleshooting any late running deliveries of material.
• Ingesting from tape (where necessary).
• Ensuring materials and metadata needed for encoding and process are present.
• Creating and inputting metadata where required.
• Effectively track and report on all aspects of the VOD assets and communicate status assets to relevant parties.
• Intake of file-based material using SPT's various media asset management tools (e.g. Aspera)
• Working closely with the Compliance team to task Editors and exchange metadata.
• Assessment of all material for transmission and VOD distribution using judgement and experience.
• Servicing both internal clients (e.g. promo, marketing, programming teams) and external (e.g. playout and platforms) and maintain good working relationships.
• Operating in an international office with colleagues, distributors and clients around the world.
• Understand the broadcast and VOD distribution chain, and communicate effectively with all third parties involved in carrying our content to viewers.
• Being part of a team that has main responsibility for tracking, processing, delivery and broadcast of all long-form materials across 20 linear and non-linear channels.
Essential Skills
& Experience Required
• Candidate must have a working knowledge of television broadcasting operations with knowledge of VOD platforms.
• Sound Knowledge of file formats, file delivery methods (such as Aspera), new distributor file testing, transcoding and asset storage.
• Clear grasp of metadata and XML.
• Knowledge of broadcast standards (PSE, R128 etc.).
• Awareness of OFCOM regulations.
• Ability to prioritise a varied workload that changes on a daily basis, understand commercial needs and respond to short notice requirements.
• Experience in localisation of content for transmission desirable.
• Experience of broadcast scheduling systems (Vision) and basic knowledge of Premiere and Photoshop desirable.
• Flexible, positive attitude with a commitment to ongoing, on-the-job education.
• Excellent IT skills. Proficient with MS Office.
• Attention to detail essential.
