Position Summary:
The Business Analyst's duties will be related to the review, assessment, and development of business requirements and processes. The focus is on the effective use of resources, both people and technology, in the execution of the Business Requirements of the Copyright and Royalty system. This position will function in a liaison capacity. The Business Analyst will combine business-planning expertise to analyze and translate departments' business requirements into system deployments and/or business process changes. The Business Analyst will act as a change agent to help facilitate effective deployments/modifications to current practices.
Job Duties:
Defines and documents customer business functions and processes.
Consults with departmental management and personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access.
Acts as a liaison between departmental end-users and development team in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of the Royalty and Copyright System to ensure optimal operational performance.
Analyzes the feasibility of, and develops requirements for, new system components and enhancements to existing systems; ensures the system design fits the needs of the users and conforms to the systems capabilities.
Tracks and fully documents changes for functional and business specifications; writes detailed universally understood procedures for permanent records and for use in training.
Identifies opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system driver changes; assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes.
Reads and interprets request tracking system (Bugzilla) and functional technical literature and translates in terms understandable to the end-users and vice versa.
Assists in developing an overall change management strategy. Documents both Unit Test Cases and Component/Change Level Test Cases
Participates in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality.
Develops training curriculum and conducts formal training sessions covering assigned systems module.
Participates in studies of new and existing system requirements and special projects to determine feasibility.
Other Responsibilities and ad-hoc projects as defined on an as needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to the administrative, management or Informational Systems.
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in business process analysis, major computer system implementations, change management, large group facilitation, and/or major analytical or research studies.
SQL as it relates to Oracle. Minimum basic knowledge of building queries containing joins and sub queries.
Ability to define Entity Elements for the business function.
Must be willing to travel between NY and Nashville.
Knowledge of the following are a plus:
Music Publishing or publishing in general.
Royalty Systems and Concepts.
Copyright Systems and Concepts.
Has performed development duties in the past.
