Sony/ATV Music Publishing in New York is seeking to fill the position of Research Analyst, A&R/Artist Development. The preferred candidate will collect, organize, manage & analyze music data to evaluate unsigned & signed artists.
Responsibilities:
Perform statistical analysis of upcoming artists to evaluate their potential earning power
Build prediction models & other analytical data tools to regularly evaluate unsigned & signed talent across digital, radio & sales avenues
Model will predict artists/songwriter sales performance
Identify and prioritize input variables, e.g. radio play, sales, streaming, listens, etc.
Help build and maintain a growing central music database in MS-SQL containing major music chart data
Review new data in database for upcoming music talent
Help develop new ways to evaluate unsigned talent via data collection (radio, sales, YouTube, Sound cloud, Spotify, etc.)
Monitor unsigned artists in the radio, streaming & sales spaces to communicate any relevant milestones to the A&R team
Perform weekly forecasts on particular records as new data becomes available
Regularly update sales & radio tracking sheets weekly for monitored songs and albums
Prepare presentations & communicate major research updates & artist performance to senior management
Perform other related analytic and general tasks as needed
A qualified candidate must possess the following skills:
Excellent written & verbal communication skills to communicate results & major findings to non-technical audience
Knowledge of Python, R & MS-SQL
Experience with web-scraping tools such as Selenium and working knowledge of 3rd Party APIs a plus
Strong analytical ability, problem solving skills & passion for music a bonus
Results-driven & strong attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word
Experience in a professional environment
Ability to work full time in Manhattan based office
